Very cool video. So the Recaro seats are ~5kilos lighter than the standard seats or the leather seats? That's quite a bit lighter.

Yeah, almost 25lbs if you replace both seats. That is something to seriously consider if you are weight conscience. I would doubt the price tag is nice on the wallet though.

Edit: wait, is that 5Kg for both seats or only one?

He said the Recaros were 5kg lighter than the stock seats. But I'm not sure which seats they are being compared to -- I'm sure the leather seats weigh more than the base model's cloth seats.

P.S. In my current autocross class I must run the cloth seats that came stock on my car (which work well btw). If I go to STX or BSP then I might look into getting a set of Recaros -- especially if I still want to have a car that I can daily drive. Plus these Recaros will fit our stock seat rails so install would be a breeze.

Needless to say, I  the Recaros!!!

Remember the weight saving in the R3's seats over other RX-8's is mainly attributed to NO electric motor adjustments and no heaters.

Man, they are VERY nice looking...

But I don't think I'd want to spend the money that they would charge AND lose my nice little rotor in the headrest :P

Yup. Heating elements adds significant weight. Seat motors too. I have to admit, while I like these Recaros, non-motorised seats felt so antiquated. And where I live heated seats are nice.

The R3 is not a base model either, I was referring to the "luxury" model.
One would think that the "base" model's cloth seats would weigh in similar or perhaps slightly heavier than the R3's recaro's.

lol

I ended up watching like half of the episode. It was about a device that the enemy Peacekeepers hid on the ship (Moyen?) to broadcast its location to other peacekeepers, and the crew finding a way to remove the device.

I really like the "uncensored" vid. I don't think I've heard anyone rave so much about the smoothness, especially when he says it's smoother than an F1 car.
