Mazda Boss Hisakazu Imaki VIDEO Interview in Australia
Mazda Boss Hisakazu Imaki VIDEO Interview in Australia
Coupla things...
Firstly, why is the interviewer kept refering to the rx-7 when Imaki-san already said there won't be one in the future.
Secondly, either Japanese language is real efficient over English or the translator is saying more than what Imaki-san was saying.
Anyhoo, nothing new here....

Reading between the lines.
Did you note the contempt the Mazda CEO showed Toby Hagon. Toby did look well out of his depth (read overwhelmed) but did look better than his Pizza delivery days at Pizza Hut-Dee Why. (Sydney suburb)
It appeared the CEO gave the responses deserving of Australia's small market from his opinion, such is the Japanese way. Short & sharp was the interview, pity. If Toby could speak the language & get on the better side of the CEO he may have opened up & given him more time.
Would have been good to get into the guys head

Ahh, the Boss man chews up motoring journalist with ease seeing he has been with Mazda for over 43 years, I think he knows all the tricks.
Would like to have asked if there is a second gen RX-8, rather trying to get him to stumble over an RX-7 that does not exist.
Imagine the headline.. RX-7 Lives!!..
All manufactures are now fast on the back-burner, car sales have tanked.

I guess so if Dave says so, he probably had a PIZZA encounter a few years ago when Toby was at that puberty stage of manhood!
Toby does car road tests and reviews for Drive.com.au, and more than likely "other" daily newspapers not in my state.
If you check out the other Video's located at the "interview" page, you can see Toby's road test of an MX-5/Miata through Europe and Nurburgring.

Toby & I used to write for "Fast Fours & Rotaries" magazine back in the 90's. Both him & I worked at Pizza hut Dee Why as a 3rd job of an evening for a while.
I got married & toned down the journo work, Toby remained single & got into journo work more heavily leaving FF&R for better oppurtunities around 2000 if memory serves me.
Toby is the son of Will Hagon the motor sports commentator so its a natural step for him to follow his fathers footsteps into the industry.

Only audio...
) my opinion is that in the future will be a rotary-engined car but not necessarily a rx-7....
