ford/mazda question

Okay so long story short, the mazda rx8 my friend has is being a the battery died. We replaced the battery, now the immobilizer is stuck on thanks to people trying to help who had no clue . So now we are stuck with a car that won't do anything. We already tried the keys but someone did something to the computer. The best part is the closest Mazda dealership is 50 miles away. So our question is there's a ford dealership and service center right in town. Anyone think it'd be worth it to have it towed to the dealership? We are at our wits end with this stupid car and are both about to push it off a cliff.

Thanks in advance for any advice

If a dead battery causes the urge to "push it off a cliff" - you're going to LOVE it when you flood the engine!

Seriously, sounds like 'someone' connected the battery backwards or boosted backwards.
The Ford computer may be your answer.

The ECu may be damaged, but there is hope...

If it was only the battery we wouldn't be wanting to push it, but thanks we'll call the dealership tomorrow and see if they can handle it or not. I have no idea what the people who were trying and had no clue did since I was tending to the screaming kid.
