It detects and jams laser based speed guns that cops use.

And this thing is on all the time? Then you are setting off everybody's detectors.

No no, its an active system--not on all the time. It detects then jams, and alerts you; so that you may slow down, then turn the system off so the cop can get a legal reading.

and legend - in the 3rd pic, look at the switch with the green light. that's my best guess as to what/where it is.

Right. Below plate, center.

Basically a cat5 cable runs from the transceiver to inside the cabin via the rubber firewall grommit (i poked a hole).

The kit came with a typical 70's style toggle switch that looked like it belonged in a NASCAR car. So I picked up a matching toggle switch from Allied Electronics.

ACC power is from the cigarette lighter.

aren't blinders illegal? and kinda a bad idea to post pictures of your car with your license plate advertising the fact that it's equipped?

Laser is governed by the FDA so it's legal to jam; radar is not, as its regulated by the FCC.

That is true, but it can also be regulated by the states. It is illegal to use in my state.

It is illegal to jam any laser used by any law enforcement agency. Lasers are regulated by the government so when you jam them you can be arrested. Laser jammers are for off-road use only.

well, if you're going to buy a laser jammer, Laser Star is one of the best to buy.

Looks clean, and makes me want to spend money.

Why would speed-ranging laser be regulated by the Food and Drug Administration? I'd like to see a source for it, if it's in fact true.

I think the installation is very nice looking, though..
