I've been working on getting details together, but wanted to start getting the word out as soon as possible on this upcoming event.

Where: Browns Chantilly Mazda in the AutoPark off Rt 50. Chantilly, VA
When: October 30th (yes, I know it's a Thursday - but for good reason)
What time: All day - but the show will be from 2pm to 7pm.
How much: Grand Opening event - Free, entry to car show: $15.

Attractions:

1. Jim Sullivan, President of Mazda (NA) is attending. May or may not be giving a speech, TBD.

2. Robert Davis of Mazdaspeed fame will be there to hang out, check out the car show, etc.

3. #70 Car from Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona winning SpeedSource team with trailer, etc.

4. Mazda Car show - rotary focuses (if not all Rotary, thats up to you guys)

5. BBQ!

6. Facility tours. This is the largest new Mazda "REV" store in our region. Great showroom, cafe and parts department.

It will be a classy yet fun event and I encourage EVERYBODY to come out.

I have been put in charge of the car show by the owner of the Browns Mazda stores (Fairfax, Alexandria and now Chantilly).

This is a great chance to show your support for the brand and to meet up with other enthusiasts in our area.


Now, about the show.

We are limiting the spots to 20 cars. It is open to all Mazda's, but the owner being a 1995 Mazda RX7 fan and all around rotary fan himself would like to see all rotary if possible. Robert Davey and Jim Sullivan would enjoy it as well!

There will be a 1st place, 2nd place and People's choice award given out. The prizes will be worth it - and your chances to win are pretty high considering we limit the field to 20 cars.

The show entrance fee will be $15 to hold your spot in the show. It can be paid ahead of time via paypal. You must register and pay BEFORE the show to gaurantee your spot.

Judges will be the sales team and service teams of Browns Chantilly Mazda.

Hmm interesting... if only this was closer i would DEFF be in... an 8 hour drive for a one day show isnt worth it to me..

 

too bad it is not on the weekend before that.

 

Yea - I know the Thursday throws it off, but we needed to work around Jim Sullivan's schedule and the SpeedSource guys.

I'm confident we'll still get a decent turn out. I've got 19 open spots thus far, but have verbal commitments from 4 other friends right now, so it'll start to fill up. Also, if we dont get that magic 20, myself, the owner of browns and a few others will enter their cars as well.

If you guys want to be in the show, could you add yourselves to this list. The registration form and page should be up by tomorrow and I'll ask that payment (the $15 for the show) be made to secure your spot in the show. The actual event is free to come to though.

I am working on getting there from the mazda reman facility(we do the rebuilt rotary motors now) in colonial heights with the bosses. Hopefully we can take the 2004 RX8 that we put a rebuild in to the show if not we have a 2009 test vehicle also. It all depends on production #'s at the time and whether I/anyone else that wants to go are allowed to take off early but no promises on that. I will try though becuase I wanna go.

Even if you cant make the show, the event itself should be pretty fun.

 

Yeah I dropped it by the boss, no idea, we wont enter the show of course but hopefully we can drive up with something. They are bringin the trailer to show us prior to the show apparently, maybe I can hide in the trailer and ride along...ha jk.
I wouldn't mind meeting the ceo in the end, he is the boss of all bosses in the end and I would love to shake his hand and thank him for the job I have. I signed out the corporations 2009 test car for the heck off it that day....crossing fingers now.

We're still unsure what Jim Sullivan is going to do exactly, he might give a speech, might just be there hanging out - who knows. I'll get the details to everybody as I know them.
