Pictures of my RX-8 I totaled on 9-14-08

click on this to my myspace pics of the wreck. you won't belive it. i broke my back and my pelvis and my friend in the passenger seat walked away unscathed. i opened my own door and got out by myself. i spun into oncoming traffic while accelerating in the rain. a car hit me, spun me around some more and then another car hit me. one was an suv. not sure which.

DSC was off. I keep it off most of the time except for on the highway when there's rain. The roads were really wet.

Holy crap, after reading those posts I'm too afraid to even look at the pics. So glad you both made it through! I've only had my 8 for two weeks, never had rear wheel drive before, and I already felt it get slippy on a wet road. I'm definitely giving myself time to learn the feel of this new ride. Anyone and everyone please feel free to give me tips/advice!! And I'm a real newbie... someone please fill me in on what DSC is? Thanks. And smooth recovery, Joliet!

DSC is Dynamic Stability Control, its basically the traction control system and will help keep the car in place in slippery conditions by killing power to the wheels when it starts to feel the car losing grip. DSC can be turned off by holding down on the DSC button for 10 seconds. The OP is another good example of why turning it off is a bad idea in adverse driving conditions. If you are new to a RWD car then its probably best to leave DSC on until you become very comfortable with it, and regardless turn it on in snow/rain etc. My previous cars were all RWD American muscle cars, so the RX8 handles great in rain compared to every car I've owned before hehe.
