Spare Tire- Calgary Area

Just wondering how many of you have a spare tire, last year i phoned the dealer nd apparently it isnt available, yet i have seen pics of the mounting bracket and tire.. is there a good place to get one where you dont get hammered by the dealer?

They occassionally pop-up on ebay for sale, or in the forums sales area.

I use a fullsized stock rim/tire as my spare when I go on long trips. In the city I don't, as it's easy to get help in the city.

I own one.

Always take it along on really long trips. but never use it in the city.

You should be able to pick one up on ebay for 150 or on these forums for around 100-150 shipped (usually from the states). The spare tire is the exact same as the Rx-7's so you might be able to find one of rx7club.com as well.

Word of advice. Don't bother with the mounting bracket. It'll just cost you shipping and you'll most likely not use it.

On longer trips (which is when you'll likely use the tire) the mounting bracket is useless if you want to fit a few bags in the trunk. Without it you can get two suitcases + a carry on and the tire in. With the mounting bracket + spare tire you'll struggle to even fit 1 suitcase.

Goodluck!
