Looks good. In my opinion, I don't think the stock rims powdercoated will flow well with your car.

Just be aware, im pretty sure the mazda logo, and either the Mazda, or the RX8, has holes. They arent just glued on. Gonna have to weld it up and repaint. Tails look real good though. Been contemplating doing mine.

By debadging do you mean taking off all 3 badges?

Just so you know, when you take the Mazda badge off there are 3 holes that remain in your trunk, I HIGHLY recommend you plug the hole & paint it, otherwise you WILL get water in it.

Get a kit. If you're going to go with Volks, go with the time attack color scheme. It really depends on how much money you have.

Chaseevans: I bought head and tail-light film last year. I got it onto the headlights and fog lights OK, but could not get it to conform to the curve of the tail-lights. I tried it on a fairly warm day and used a hairdrier, but could not get it around the outside corner of the lens and to stretch enough to flatten out.

What is your secret? I still have the film and would like to apply it, but not with a bunch of wrinkles. Would appreciate any help you can offer.

Thumbs down

well i have a little wrinkle on the top like i said but its not too noticeble... but what i did was put it on lightly and heated with heat gun to get it to form around the red bulb part that sticks out and after i got that set i heated it all up and got it real hott and then pulled like a mother.. and after i stretched it to align it i used the squeege to get all down then once it was on i got a hair dryer on cool to harden the lense up and make it stick.. and also a friend too help u makes it work a lot better.. sorry thats all i could give u... but if u did it ur self and it has some wrinkles then be proud u did it.. because most people would have gone the easy way and forked off 50 bucks to get it put on

seriously... taillights are so hard to put on. i tried the pre-cut, threw it out and bought bulk film and cut it. and it was tiring and hard as heck. painting would be so much easier.

I know a few people who have done this and getting it just right seems like a total P.I.T.A.

chaseevans - Thanks for the details on the application of the film. I even went to two local tint shops to see if they would do it and they declined. One said that it was illegal. Who knows. Anyway, I will try it again. I had tried working from the inside (toward the trunk lid) out. I will work it from the outside corner (curve) as you describe. Thanks, Burt

I like the look, but in terms of having fully functional tails I stay on the safe side. I've seen them in person and it's difficult to see the lights. Plus it's just another reason for cops to harass.
