mazda canada doesnt have TSB MSP16?????

I have heard about this TSB MSP16 long time ago. Since i have been using premix, i didnt think it would be important and necessary to have this TSB done. but today i read a lot of posts about how good this TSB is. I decided to give northhill mazda a call and arrange a time for it. However, i was shocked when they said there is nothing about MSP16 on their list. It is really unfair that we dont have this amazing TSB here!!! unreasonable!!!

Yeah we don't have this TSB, but you can still get the PCM revision that this TSB really is mainly about. I got mine Dec 2007. A whole 3-4 months before the TSB was made official

Why are you using premix on a street car????Did you disable the oil injection system??

^ Al, it seems like a lot of people are pre-mixing. I don't at the moment but wonder if I'm "missing the boat". What are your thoughts on it?

Its called "Porsche Club Syndrome" One guy does something and everyone else follows blindly. There is no reason to add premix to a stock RX8! All you will do is screw up all the exhaust sensors, ruin your converter and plug up the injectors, not to mention all the other possible problems! We run 250ml of premix to 25Litres of fuel. WE HAVE NO OIL INJECTION SYSTEM ON OUR RACE CAR. That is the only reason we run premix. If we maintained a computer in the car (its carburated) we would run the stock metering pump and not premix! GGGGGGGGEZZZZZZZZZZZ.

ok let me ask you this then.... since your involved in racing and obviously smart enough to not blindy follow the heard of sheep.....

IF the OEM oil injection was adequate, then why do the 09's have a third injection point?

my argument is not about volume of oil, cause there are a few things you can do to alter that. but about placement of oil. mazda has finally provided a solution, MORE oil isnt necessarily needed(depends who you ask) but a better distribution IS. premixing will help to cover down on the lack of oiling over the center of the apex seal issue, which mazda has finally addressed in the 09 models

Most people pre-mixing with the OMP still active are only using 4oz (118ml) in 50 liters. This is just to avoid dry seals when it gets really hot and the A/C is on adding load to the engine. Another solution people are using to fix this problem is to use thicker oil.

I had two incidents of dry seals (major power loss and stalling at idle). Over time this problem will result in blown cats and engine damage do to over heating.

I simply don't trust Mazda's ECU fix to address the problem. If the ECU alone could fix the problem then they would not have added another injector in the '09 model.

I dont care about what 09 rx8 is equipped with cuz a new problem always comes up after the old problem is fixed. I dont know what ur racing car is using cuz my is not a racing car. I only know from most of forum member's and my experiences, adding premix wouldnt cause anything but it adds benefits. The car idles smoother and runs better. The premix that i have been adding claims its a cat free premix. some people on this forum say they are not but at least i havent had any problem with premix for 10kkms and my cat still seems fine. However, I add BG44K every 3k to keep the engine and injectors clean.
anyways, what does the TSB that u have done include??? reflush the PCM for more engine lubrication???

^ IIRC premixing lowers the fuel octane. Feel free to correct me however.

How much can 4oz of fuel affect the octane rating ?

IT only lowers it by dilution. So 12 gallons - 4oz = 90.75453434 octane out of 91 octane ?

When you add premix you are adding in the fuel tank. Think of the route the oil will follow to get into the combustion chambers. I believe the oil metering system injects oil right into the rotor housing and does not travel through your fuel pump, fuel injectors etc. We have to clean all these parts all the time because the premix gums them. If you wish to keep using premix, please do so. I am only giving you a common sense approach and remember if it was a great idea the factory would recommend it as well. Premix will also effect the emissions coming out of your car even only 4oz per tank. Have a great day!
