does the MS exhaust give any extra power? There are a few exhausts that do and even a couple that give almost 20 hp. Just wondering if the MS gives anything or is it just for the sound.

 

no exhaust will net you 20hp on this car.

to achieve the biggest gain in the exhaust system you'd need to replace the CAT with a straight pipe... and even then that is only ~10hp.

all you get with an exhaust is sound.. and maybe 5-7hp.

intake and exhaust are there for sound. I have em both and love em.. but i bought them knowing that HP gains are not what they're there for.

That thread was posted in 2003! Back when RX-8 owners WANTED to believe all the HP claims.

As people started modding, the gains weren't exactly the same

I'm still happy as ever with my Mazdaspeed Bolt-Ons, atleast the butt dyno says I gained some power

Was looking earlier for info on the MS exhaust and have been thinking about it hence looking through these threads.
Glad you're happy with the mods though.

I read that some types of CAI can be annoyingly loud. Your vid seemed pretty good to me though. Didn't seem too loud or to make an annoying noise.

 

Didn't want to start another thread, but I made a video of my install day...including before and afters of aem cai and ms sport exhaust. In car and out of car. Oh and even some with no bumper!
