First, the suspension set-up: Tein S-Techs, Koni Yellows, and 245/40/18 Goodyear F1-DS.

Okay, so I've gone about 5,000 miles on my Goodyear F1s and the inside wear on the rear tires is so bad that they need replacing . My local tire shop says this is because they cannot get any more than -2.2 degrees camber on the rears due to how low the car sits. I had the fenders rolled a few days ago and it still didn't help them. Ideally, I'd like to get a -1 to a -1.5 but the shop says they cannot go any further without an aftermarket camber adjusting kit installed.

I'm surprised to have never read any of the threads on here mention such a kit and am wondering if I am getting my leg pulled a bit. My car sits VERY low but with the fenders now rolled I can't imagine why I can't get more positive camber out of the wheels??? Is there a Mazda adjustment limitation or not?

btw- the car handles AMAZINGLY but I simply cannot replace $800 tires every 5,000 miles.

I would say your settings are a bit high, but not overly radical. Could be because of the lowering springs.

 

ouch, only 5,000 miles for for GS-3Ds?? My GS-3Ds have about 28,000 miles on then now and they have still plenty of life even after 2 track days. My camber settings were -1 deg front, -1.5 rear, 0 toe. I believe the toe is the biggest influence on tire wear, much more than camber. Have them recheck your toe settings.

I have the Racing Beat springs which don't lower the car that much (.5 inch) and -1.5 was easy for the adjustment guys (front had lots of room for adjustment, the most positive setting for the rear was -1.25). It's possible that they can't get more positive camber as your camber spectrum gets more negative the lower your car is.

 

Yes, the toe had the most major correction so I'm hoping that with them set close to zero now, that my tire wear will even out a bit. I also had them flip the rear tires with each other off the rims to help even it out also. Time will tell I guess...

 

no way you should you be stuck with over negative 2 degree camber in the back with s-techs and koni's. granted that drop is more or less an inch in the back...take it somewhere else.

 

i just got my wheels aligned and have 2.5 degrees camber on the rear, ran out of adjustment, however i have lowered the car heavily with coil overs

 

I'm callin shenanigans on this shop, they might not know how to adjust the RX8's camber. find another tire place.

Also, are the TIREs rubbing something because of your wheel offset? Post pics of this tire wear.

 

I have a 2 inch drop on my car and I got it aligned fine. I agree with everyone else that you need to go to another shop.

 

does anyone know where to adjust the camber further? i just adjusted the bolt that is in the manual, the lower link that you need to move outta the way to install the shock

Defenitely I am experiecing the same problem, recently 3 months ago I bought all 4 tires, before that I experienced that the rear driver side tire was worned more than the right.

Took it to balance at Western Auto , and the suckers are so Ignorant stating that they cant align the vehicle because they dont have a camber kit for my car.

Right now I have my car sitting in the f@#$% garage, I've heard that our OEM camber, toes can be adjusted but nobody shows or posts on how.

I will hate to invest in a JIC camber kit - $700 if I can manage to correct the problem by adjusting the OEM part.

Other rumors are, that a custom camber kit can be made by a local machi
ne shop, allthough they will need specs of the rear suspension of your car in order to accomplish the right fitting etc. for at least $200 but since not proven to be true or seen on this website I yet wont even bother to try this option.

 

look at the suspension arms and you will see the adjustment bolts where they connect to the chasis, it will be a bolt with a large washer with grooves on it, thatgs hwo you adjust the suspension
