Talk me into or out of

I've been out of my 8 for a couple years now. I purchased an '08 Corvette a year ago. After 10k mi I really like it but there is something drawing me back to a new 8. Yes, the Vette gets much better mileage and is much quicker but there is something missing. Having not kept up with the forum is there anything to look out for with a new '08 rx8? have they solved the cold plug issue, starter and battery problems. Is it overall better than the '04 I had? Also, what kind of deals are out there. Thanks in advance!

I wouldnt do that. That's severely apples to oranges. Going from a car that handles equilly as well with better gas mileage that runs 12's back to an 8 isn't something I'd personlly do, your call though.

Well, our car screams higher, has a back seat, and is very unique.

I think out of all of its features the uniqueness is what draws most of us to this car.

Considering he's owned both, I think he knows what he's getting himself in to.

Personally I'd look at the '09s if you are okay with the styling. They have several key mechanical changes that will be worth it.

Get an M3 and blend in with the others

They are both good cars IMO, so I think you should just go with your instinct.

Yes the Vette is an '08 and love it. I would like to have both. The Vette has been my DD since I picked it up and I guess that's why I have 10kmi on it with it being 9mo old. If I thought I could sell my wife on trading my '07 Grand Prix gt (winter car) for a rx8 then that would be perfect. I'm not sure though that even with Blizzaks it would be a good winter vehicle. It does fit the need to haul more than two. I know there are lots of threads on winter driving but if properly equipped how much snow will it go through?? Thanks for all of the good advise so far

Ur better off spending $2K on a "dependable" FWD semi-beater for snow driving. Bring the 8 out only when the snow is cleared away. Just because its winter doesnt mean there is snowfall every day (im from NW Ohio). Snow tires or not, just dont condone driving the 8 in winter weather (snow is just one shitty element of winter weather), just my opinion.

Keep both. Buy a cheap car to drive when its snowing. Best of both worlds!

Sell Vette and get the Cayman S. It is as balanced as the rx-8 but faster. Interior is tops too. Apparently the gas mileage is quite good.

I went from a 2005 RX8, to a 2007 Corvette C6, to a 2008 Corvette C6....something keeps drawing me back to wanting to get an RX8 again. I still think the RX8 was more fun to drive...it felt like an extension of myself when driving.

RX-8 to vette and possibly BACK to an RX-8?

Wow.

There have been improvements to the starter, plugs, and battery since your 04. Flooding is no longer issue for most.
You'll miss the HP your vette puts down though.

the new RX-8 got a little face lift, some like some hate it. The 'mazdaspeed' version of it is SUPER SEXY and has race seats in it. (Recaro?)

I regularly see 30+mpg on the highway. 60mph in 6th gear is less than 1400rpms.
