So should I get Winter tires soon or.....

OK guys. I have stashed away near 2k specifically for some winter tires and rims.

I have my mind set ATM on Blizzak WS-60's. Everything I've read about it is amazing. Anyway, I've been considering just biting the bullet soon and getting my tires/rims now.

However, I also wanted to see if you guys think I should wait for whatever reason. New tire coming out or anything?

suggestion. use your current rims to put new snow tires on. then get some aftermarkets in the spring for the ones you currently have mounted, unless they are at/near replacement time, then it would be good time to pick up a new set of 4 tires when you get rims in the spring. My current tires have about 10k left on them at most. so going to just get some winter ones on my current stock rims, and then save up for spring and get 4 new tires with AM rims.

See I actually want to do that. Question I have is, Is going from Blizzak WS-60's to Blizzak LM-25's or Winter Sport M3's going to be a big drop, since the WS-60's dont come in the 18" size? I will be driving around quite a bit this winter (long story) and the only car I have is my precious RX-8. After experiencing last winter with stock tires, I have learned my lesson about getting winter tires. Will either of those two tires be adequate or are the WS-60's that much better?

If it isnt too much of a difference, I probably will get a nice new set of tires/rims in the spring. Thanks ahead of time for any more advice.

I am personally doing the same thing with my car, I just bought new tires last summer, only put about 4k on them. Lots of tread life. So I am gonna use my stock rims for winter rims since I know the salt wont tear up the rim. Buy some aftermarket rims in the spring.
