New User, just bought an '06 Shinka

My name is Mike, I just bought an '06 Shinka, Copper Red. Absolutely beautiful car, and it is a blast to drive. I'm absolutely pleased with it, which is good, since I had to drive 630 miles each way to get it. I did, however, get the advertised 24MPG on the freeway driving back. It's also $20 cheaper to insure over a 6-month period than my '01 impala. Go figure.

Anyway, I've been lurking for a couple of months, and finally bit the bullet and bought one. Nice community you all have here.

Welcome Mike. Insurance is a nice break because of the "4-Door Coupe" and you did get one of the best colors IMO. 24mpg is DAMN good... dont expect that in the city though lol! Post where you're from as well...

Welcome
Add your location................it will help later on.
Don't be afraid to use the search button, and I find the advanced search works much better.
Also, might wanna take the time to read a lot of stickies.

Welcome! Glad that you like your car. You have a special edition so, who knows, it may be collectible one day.

You may want to post your insurance experience over in the insurance sub-forum--it's always useful to hear the details of how someone got a good deal on insuring their RX8 (not all companies seem to treat it as a four-door).

Welcome and congrats. I've been looking at Shinka's for the last several months but haven't found the right one. If you don't mind sharing the specifics of your deal I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Welcome and congrats. Yep, surprisingly the 8 is not that bad on insurance for most people.

I live in the thumb area of Michigan, and went to Pennsylvania to get specifically this car. I knew what to expect going in as far as gas mileage is concerned, and I've read every sticky a couple of times over. The nearest mazda dealer is about 70 miles away from me, so I'll take a trip there some time to make sure I have the most recent ECU flash and TSBs taken care of. No mods at this point, other than swapping out the sirius module to an ipod module on the stereo. Being I live just 2 miles from work, I'm not paying for satellite radio.

Nice job on the RX! Hey, how are you going to deal with the 2 mile commute to work? I live in place with limited roads, so getting the engine up to temperature is an issue. I guess you'll just have to take a longer route to work right? cheers.
