http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/04/o...ford-focus-rs/

Its about time Ford NA started bowing to the superior design and construction of Ford Euro, if this translates well into the ST that we get in the states in 09, I may just go domestic for my next car...

Wicked. Sadly, it'll never reach American shores without getting losing everything that makes it hot, like the Opel that became a Saturn.

Those green Recaros are SO beautiful, I'd kill to have them in my car!

man all you Ford haters out there chill, the media for the past two years points towards this incredible concept being juiced into the ST... yeah Fords economy cars are the biggest pieces of s*** out there, but Ford recongizes now more than ever that it needs to reinstil its lost rich racing heritage, and hopefully this will be a sign of things to come...

The rear end styling sucks, but the front and side views are very nice.
It's light and has almost 300hp with fwd. Don't care what kind of tricks they've pulled, I bet you need firm grip on the steering wheel at full throttle in first.

Okay, Ford has my attention now...
Not saying that I like it or am already planning on buying one, but they definitely have my attention.

What is up with the front lips of all these vehicles?

I like the look and lines of the focus that they have pictured...I just feel that once again we're seeing a reinventing of the wheel in a bunch of different vehicles.

It's just an integrated front splitter, pretty common aerodynamic piece. I agree with YaXMaNGTO that the tail isn't great looking. Hopefully with ford sales down 41% and the massive upswing of compact car sales they'll decide to bring it here.

This pisses me off!

If I could ask the CEO of Ford (Mulally) or GM (Wagoner) one question, just one, it would be:

Why don't you import your beautiful and superior European spec cars to the U.S., or better yet, build them here?

I'm talking about cars like the Euro Ford Mondeo, the Opel Corsa (the 1.6l turbo), the European Ford Focus....

It's so frustrating.

Looks similar to the A3 TDI Clubsport concept.....

Yeah 300hp to the front wheels, that would be a bitch to handle from the launch. Looks pretty cool though.

i use to do that in my srt-4...trust me, its hard to launch, i would launch at 1700-2k, anything higher and you would just burn out down the entire track....tq was hard to handle....

It'll never happen just because Ford knows that Americans will buy any POS car that they put the Ford label on (I almost bought a Mustang). They only have to compete in the overseas market.

I have always wondered if some of the reasoning for never bringing any of the hot compacts to the states was because they were two close to the mustang performance wise. I thought that this car was going to be AWD, and the few articles i read seemed to support that. I have a suspicion that ford said no AWD so it would not walk all over the stang when it came state side. but the car will probably be a good car. The last SVT focus was.

Yeah I have also heard this from friends who knew Ford engineers. Now that they are near going out of business, they realize they have to compete here also. Well at least Ford does, Chrysler is lost and GM is just disorganized.

It sure is a great looking car. I don't understand why they didn't make it AWD, though, especially if it's supposed to be compete with the WRXs, Evos, and GTIs of the world.

As for why Ford isn't selling the European Focus in the States, the explanation I have heard is that the Euro Focus would cost so much to manufacture here that it would end up costing significantly more than its competition.
