Shakotan Matsuri (Japanese Lowered Car Festival)

I just wanted to pass this along to everybody in the northwest. Our own little Japanese-only car show in Boise, ID that's far from a typical car show. Check it out! I can answer *some* questions, but most questions should go to the e-mail below. This isn't just a local, 20 riced-out slow cars show up thing... initial information get togethers have had 20 nicely built, very tasteful Japanese cars all show up (RX-8's to Honda S2000's to a RHD Skyline R-32), and there's reportedly going to be a nice handful of Skylines and some SHARP race-dedicated cars.

Thanks for looking! We are proud to present Shakotan Matsuri '08 (Shok-o-tan Mawt-soo-ree) which means "Lowered car Festival" in Japanese. Shakotan will also have the look and feel of the Japanese culture. Our goal in creating this event is to go outside the typical local and even national "car show" realm by bringing new exciting elements, sponsors, and ideas to Boise. Our passion as committee members has always been not just Japanese cars, but the approach, honor, and commitment the Japanese take when building a car in whatever style they may choose for whatever purpose. We are enthusiasts and felt that showcasing the many styles associated with Japanese culture like Drifting, VIP, Circuit, Gymkhana (AutoX), Rally and Drag is a good way for other enthusiasts to come together and share their passions in the form of their cars. We want to display everything from the ultra clean VIP car, down to the everyday purpose built drift car that has been well used to drift.

We hope to see you there!
