My rx8 trip to the bodyshop for some repair work - Part 1 complete
When i got the car it was a mess. I left it in to get the front wings, bonnet, a pillars and passenger side doors filled and sprayed to fix stonechips. The previous owner had tried to respray half the front bumper with an spray in a can, completely different colour and no lacquer so the front bumper was rubbed down and resprayed. The painter never used an under coat, no his fault but it needed fixed.
See below:

Here you can just about see the shadows in the paint. Its really hard to see but when you could they were really annoying.
While they were getting fixed i decided to get the roof resprayed as it was covered in scrapes. The calipers got painted gold. Wheels relacquered. Engine covered resrayed (debadged), two dents on rear bumper fixed and resprayed as the lacquer was damaged.
General pictures....

Part 2 - full detail. starts tomorrow

With the amount of painting done...why didn't you just have them shoot the whole car? 1...it would probably look more uniform and they wouldn't need an exact color match and 2...they wouldn't have billed you so much for the labor for the masking job. Probably more importantly for the same money you paid you could have had a completely unique color. To each is own though. Paint looks good though. My only concern would be the match on the roof as it looks like it was only partially done. I also see they left the fender vents in. With how easy they are to take out, it is a DIY, I am surprised. Anywho...hope it is everything you hoped it would be.
^i agree--they should have taken the fender vents out and the headlights, the mazda badge, tail lights...etc. All those spots are prone to clear peeling if done that way. Unless there is something I don't know about that makes it ok to do it that way....
As you can see ghosting in the first picture the car went in for a second session. It was in for about two weeks getting more work done that time. On that occassion i know the vents where removed and lights. Not badges though.
I didnt ask for a full respray because at the time it didnt need it. And it was done cheap. I never specified how i wanted the work carried out just a long list of repair work i wanted done.
