Ok, down to the wire.... '08 or '09

No i can't wait.. its gotta be done now.. most of the dealers have '09's lots of '08s left..

Since I am a newbie to this but by no means a dummy.. could you guys/gals point out to me the advantages of each? I heard that the new engine is better in the '09? The gearing is a bit shorter for better torque?

Getting an '09 this early in '08.. how is that gonna help/hurt me?

Still not too crazy about the instrument cluster on the new ones... The body is fine, the color I would get would be either the new Crystal white, Sunlight silver or Diamond Grey Metallic..

The 08s have a 3500 dollar rebate on them..

is there something absolutly compelling that would make me choose one or the other?

I do like the fact that I could get a Grand touring in an '09 WITHOUT a sunroof but how feasible it would be to find one like that??

Thanks for you help!!

You can get more than 3500 off a 2008 if you put some effort into negotiating.

The 2009 doesn't have a new engine; it has some slightly different gearing and some tweaks. The 2009's are more of a facelift than a major redesign. Read well, and wait for others to post.

A friend of mine is looking to buy new. Our dealer has three 2007's left. The deal they are offering him is AMAZING.

You might want to search for an 07 in your area.

the 09 has a 3rd oil injector in the rotor housings. better lubrication, better engine life.

04-08 has a 100k mile warranty on the engine to compensate for the lack of a 3rd oil injector.

the gearing difference isnt large. you could put 225/40s (afaik) or 245/35s tires on and achieve the same effect. put on 17" rims and double the effect!

the 04-08 exterior looks better. the 09 has indash navigation and a touchscreen media center. 04-08 has a better steering wheel. 09 has the r3 model for really nice recaro seats. instrument cluster is shitty in 09.

my advice:
go for 08 sport model. with the money you save go to a custom upholstery shop and have them put leather in. wait for the metra double din dash replacement unit to come out and put a touchscreen nav and media center. in the end, you'll have a nicer stereo, nicer leather, and more cash. find a low mileage used 08 for increased money savings.

Why not get a loaded 07? Same as the 08 but for a much cheaper price!

I personaly wouldn't recommend a car tha has been sitting on a lot for 700 days that is ALMOST CERTAINLY has a warranty that has already starterd. I wouldn't bet there are many 07's that have NOT been reported as sold...
