Holy cow WTF gas mileage!

Since I got my 8 in Feb, I've been averaging pretty much 15L / 100KM. Maybe 15.5L but it's been pretty consistent 330KM - 360KM a tank. With the exception of one tank that gave me about 14L / 100KM that was 95% driven, I'm usually a mix of 65/35 or 60/40 highway/city. Tonight I go to fill up and I realized that I still had a quarter tank and had already done 295KM!

The fillup was 41.165L which meant an average of 13.93L / 100KM! I mean, I didn't change my driving habits, and I certainly redlined her a few times a day. Now I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but I have no explanation for a sudden improvment like that! Anyone got any ideas?

PS. I know I look like a goofball for loving a 2 MPG gain.

maybe its getting a little warmer out your way? I've noticed that my normal 12-12.5 L/100km is now consistantly in the 11's. I get 420-440 before the light comes on in my '04.

How about new trans and diff fluid, not to mention the removal of 30lbs of useless lightening on your car.

I thought about that and I don't think 30 lbs will make THAT much difference. Can the fluids make that much of difference though?

Switching over to summer gas might have helped, depending on when that happened in your part of Canada. Did you fill up more more than usual last time, less than usual this time? That's why one tank is not that telling. See if continues for several tanks on average.
