Kudos To Mazda!!! Well Done!!! 8 Year/100,000 Mile Warranty On Motor For All!

Mods, delete this if you really want to, because I know it's been posted, but I JUST FOUND OUT, and let me just say:

KUDOS TO MAZDA FOR EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE RENESIS MOTOR TO 8 YEARS/100,000 MILES!!!!!!!!!!

I had called on them to do this months ago, and had said that it would really show loyalty and a firm commitment to their customers, and shore up loyalty from their customers in return, if they took this measure.

Wow! Outstanding! I'm way more than impressed with Mazda at this point. This is a huge contrast to how Toyota handled their V6 sludge problem and how Honda handled their transmission issues.

WAY TO GO MAZDA!

Our next car will be a Mazda 6. We were already considering it, but this seals the deal. We had been going back and forth between the Accord and Mazda 6, but the decision to get the Mazda is now the final one!

By the way, I'm keeping my RX-8 for as long as it runs, as I love my 8, and have had NO problems with it at all - the 6 will be for my better half.

.....

This is an awesome deal, however considering the "problems" with the renesis, this is to be expected. I drive a 3800SC with 167,000 MI and expect another 50,000 without any problems. All I've changed is plugs, wires, filters, water pump, and little else. Never was stranded minus a tensioner pulley($15 side of road). I am looking forward to buying an 8 soon, and am prepared to do lots of maintenance. If you can't afford to do the normal maint schedule, then you can't afford the car(sorry, I'm used to the Blackberry, I'm using a PC)

I just got this today, and I have to say, I love MNAO like a fat kid loves cake! Extended warranties just make me all warm and fuzzy inside

On a serious note, what does this warranty actually include? Is it basically the powertrain warranty minus everything from the clutch assembly back?

Check out bsinacann's post. The extended warranty isn't all that complete. I agree that the Toyota sludge problem was not taken care of by Toyota, my sister got stuck with a Lexus with only 75K miles and no help from Lexus/Toyota. Honda/Acura on the other hand has replaced the tranny's with no out of pocket cost to the owners. Even on cars that went over the extended warranty period. With this Mazda warranty it looks like you still have to pay for some of the repair.

Mazda wins, except for the whole " you need to pay 3k to get new spark wires/spark plugs/oil/coolant/cat/etc...for 3k dollars!"

Otherwise, 100% win.

Quoted directly from the letter I received yesterday on the Limited Warranty Extension Program SSP 77:

"Mazda Motor Corporation is conducting a Special Service Program (SSP) which extends warranty coverage on Rotary Engine Core Components on all 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 model year RX-8 vehicles."

The keyword here being ALL. This seems to lend some credence to the theories that Mazda has known about the oil metering deficiencies in the 1st generation Renesis engines (which have been corrected in the 2nd gen)...either way, I'm impressed they've stepped up to the plate. I don't expect trouble, but I'm glad they're backing their customers...great job Mazda!
