I was about to say "good luck" to you... but you're not signed up?

Just over a month 'till the midwest swing of NT's... can't wait.

I was up for going, but my co-driver just couldn't attend (he was down there last weekend for the DoubleX).

I wanted to start a thread as I'll be following the results over the weekend. My next national events will be the DC & Toledo Pro Solos.

Wow, wonder if it's a "power" course... Tovsen jumped back into an STX BMW for this event, and is pretty much matching the BS raw times. Hafta get the scoop later tonight.

edit: reportedly somewhat power-friendly, sealed asphalt, decent grip (at least for ST* classes).

Provisional Day 1 results are up: Saturday results

iaus10, I've run at the AMS site before. Like your friend mentioned, it's a sealed asphalt surface with solid grip. No issues with dust or sand. The lot is relatively flat and lends itself well to safe, fast courses.

+1 on what Harvey said. Serious battle in BS. Comparing BS's times to FSP (similar PAX and ran same heat), Cavanaugh & Carter were right on the Jinx's pace.

That was a fun course, very fast. I nearly hit the top of 2nd on the longer parts.

Sucks that I blew it on my last run. The last trophy spot was less than 0.2 seconds away.

Wow! That's no joke. You, Wayne and Mark were in a tight race for the final trophy spot!

So, how impressive were Carter's Day 2 runs? Looks like he turned it up a notch!

Still got straight timed by CS

I wonder if the day one course required a down shift to 1st or something. The RX8 times weren't good on Saturday, relatively speaking, but were pretty darn good on Sunday, particularly Carter.

Glad to see Carter get back on pace. I understand he was about to lose his ride due to lack of performance. Just to bad he had to change brands to get there.

Don't know about the other drivers, but for us the Sat vs Sun difference was more a function of driver than course. On Sunday, Carter's driving met Sponsor Expectations(for the first time in '08 but he is still on probation until he repeats consistently, one event does not a season make).PAX results seem to support this premise; Sat= #43, Sun= #1, Overall=#12.
Also on the positive side, on Sunday he straight timed all Stock classes except SS by substantial margins.....but as his Sponsor reminded, these are 2 DAY events.

What, with that poor steering feel and turn in and no grunt off the turns?

Impossible ....

Hey, now!! I never said "no grunt", only that a shorter tire would spin up quicker...and I didn't say poor steering feel, either. The point I was making was that the big HoHo's don't communicate as well as the 245's and that this mythological 265/32.5-18 might be a good compromise...but, that doesn't mean I don't like the 295. I already told you that your car was better than mine ever was, based on the couple of runs I took in it between puking sessions...

I don't think you ever said that, but thanks

IMO the advantages outweigh any disadvantages, reality always trumps theory

congrats to Carter for kicking butt

Personally, I couldn't see how he drove as his grid spot is directly behind mine.

If you don't mind me asking Jim, who's Carter's Sponsor? Vettesport? Koni?

What events will you guys be attending next?

It is kind of an inside joke... Jim is going to give him the boot if he does not step it up. I say give the kid one more shot, then kick him to the curb.

I drove like straight up poo on Sunday. It really should have been RX-8 1-2. I put down a 44.9xx in my first run (which was fastest until Carter put up a 43.2 directly behind me ) but i killed a few cones, so I chose to drive a conservative 2nd run to stay in the trophies. My 3rd run was considerably faster according to Traqmate until I got overly aggressive in the last sweeper and ended up entering the slalom on a different side than I had been planning to. That totally killed my brain's programming and I essentially parked the car in the middle of the slalom.

However, it was only my 2nd NT event (after finishing 4th out of 5 at Peru last year) and I got a trophy, so I'm happy Oh, and I corded my 245 A6s, so I'm needing buy new tires before Peru. Kumho or Hoosier?
