MAZDASPEED Rear Wing Spoiler question.

So today I got hit from the back and although the damage wasn't that big. I will have to end up replacing my rear bumper. Already one dealer wants to charge me $900 for an OEM rear bumper painted in velocity red.

Now i wanted to know if I could just purchase a Mazda Speed verion and install it myself? Does it go over the exsisting bumper or do you replace it completly?

The only part that got damaged was the lower black area.

The Mazdaspeed rear spoiler is placed on the bottom plastic part of the OEM bumper. Depending on how bad the damage is to your OEM bumper, you shouldn't worry too much if the plastic part of the bumper is damaged only slightly. You have to cut the plastic part, which includes both left and right exhaust shrouds and the middle. Then, the Mazdaspeed rear spoiler goes on top of it. Installation might be a little difficult if you're not good at cutting.

Try to post some pics of the damage. It will help us answer your question better.

the mazdaspeed diffuser covers all of the black plastic part on the bumper so.. if the damage is only on the black plastic part, you can just buy the mazdaspeed rear diffuser to cover it up.

If you actually have to replace the rear bumper cover that costs about $400 UNpainted from Mazda (I had something similar about two months ago, I just got my cover sanded, repainted and re-installed for a total of $400...). Taking the rear bumper cover off, while not the hardest thing in the world, is annoying. $900 seems steep none-the-less if it just the bumper cover, if its damage to the bottom plastic trim parts AND the the bumper cover than that might be around the right price, have you price shopped that around?

i was rear ended, and had to replace a plastic exhuast shoud and rear bumper, it costed 900, to get from mazda and painted at a shop.. so 900 isnt steep... i didnt pay for it, insurance did, but 900 sounds right. but how does this have to do with a rear spoiler, that goes on the trunk....
