Over Heat problem with the 4 speed auto :(

hi guys, coz i always go to play mountions with my friends, and did go to track once, but i found out a same problem, after i use the same gear for a while, like the 2nd gear for couples of conners with high rpm about some mins, the red coolen light will be on, but the problem is not from the coolen, coz the coolen temp stay normal, so i'm confused about what happened, is the engine oil too hot? or the tranny oil too hot? or anything else?coz i didnt care abt it when i was playing on the track, after couple rounds, it will shut down my gas around 5000 rpm, wont let me go, untill the light is out
anyone has the same problem? plzzzz help

Same here because your coolant level is low...

I added mine and the light goes off

Yep, coolant in the overflow tank is a little bit low. Top it up and your all set.

Same issue here. I'm replacing the coolant tank cap tomorrow, hopefully it will solve it. Or maybe it is the thermostat... Coolant 2 years old - should replace in summer.

Cap could be an issue if it's weak. Lower PSI than it should have and the coolant will boil at a lower temp. And have a tendency to leak out the cap.
If your going to replace your coolant, do not use the Mazda Pre Mix. It has to high an antifreeze mixture. Antifreeze 60/40 water. It will work great for not allowing your engine to freeze, but it wont give you adequate cooling properties in the summer. Install 70% distilled water and 30 % antifreeze.

The coolant warning light come out in most situation was due to sensor (located in accessory tank) malfunction. This condition was very popular here (Taiwan)
The only soution is change it

Yep, I'd make an appointment to have it replaced under warranty. The sensor only comes with a new coolant tank so they have to replace the whole thing. This includes draining your whole coolant system.

Unless your in a very cold climate, I'd try and mixture of water wetter, distilled water and anti-freeze. Water overall cools better but you'll want the anti-freeze to extend the freezing point as well as provide protection against rust.

As Easy pointed out, the Mazda mixture is pretty heavy on anti-freeze which I think is good to -40 degrees F?

Exclamation It was not the cap !

Got the new cap on but the issue is still present (intermittent issue - only when driven at high RPM for few minutes). Next suspects would be sticky thermostat (but temp seems OK when that light occurs) or the sensor/connector itself. Still have the extended warranty but not sure the coolant tank is part of it...

If the cap is weak, coolant level will slowly go down as vapors escape. Stant has a correct replacement cap if anybody needs one ($8 at PepBoys).

i heard changing cap can cure the problem/avoid coolant leak from the cap

but i think only aftermarket cap that can stand higher pressure can do this

aftermarket(greddy/hks) > stock > pepboys

this is just what i thought, correct me if i am wrong

Partially correct - but Stant is aftermarket. Also, it is 1.3 and the stock is 1.1, so it would resist better the pressure. The racing ones are 1.6 but I would change coolant hoses and clamps before going so high - better vent the steam through the cap than to blow a hose. I did extend the coolant waste tubing all the way to under the car, just in case.
