A question about brakes/suspension

so, as it turns out, my brakes/rotors are frikkin squeakin', and I need to swap that crap out ASAP!

so, I was thinking of getting some hawk pads. HPS hawks, perhaps?

do they make red brake calipers for the 8, or should I just paint them?

as for rotors, I wanted cross-drilled & slotted- I haven't seen any that will fit with the hawk HPS though.

also, are steel brake-lines worth a look?

as for suspension, I don't know what to do. I'm pretty sure that just replacing the springs/ struts will be enough for a street application, and Im' pretty sure that a tower would be completely useless.

so I ask, what should I go with? All tein for springs and struts, or all mazdaspeed, or something else? God, Im just not sure.

everyone will probably say the same thing about the squeaking. they are performance brakes so they are going to squeak. i just put on a stoptech big brake kit and they squeak like crazy. just get rotors and pads that are made for the rx8 and they will fit together. and as far as suspension goes what are you looking to use it for? i have the tein basic coilovers so i could adjust the height and stiffen up the suspension for body roll reduction.

I guess what I need is a stiffer ride for better handling and feel, as well as the same or close to the same ride height, cuz this car is low anough as it is! lol

Any OE sized replacement rotor, whether blank, slotted or cross drilled will fit with any OE sized replacement pad. The compound of the pad has nothing to do with fitment. HPS is simply the compound of that particular Hawk pad. You can combine it with the rotor you wish to combine it with, though drilled rotors are primarily for looks as they are prone to crack when seeing extremes in heat cycles.

The one possible conflict between pad compound and rotor composition is that of combining Carbotech brakes with RacingBrake brand rotors, as there is a bulletin on their site about uneven pad deposits from ceramic based brakes on RacingBrake's proprietary rotors.

As for suspension- springs with not too much drop are Racing Beat, Mazdaspeed and Tein H-Tech.
See this post for some comprehensive spring info.

If your gonna do the rotors, I would get slotted, not drilled. Check out Racing Brake as one possibility. It's what I have and like them very much.

They're not cheap, but very good! Get the two piece, they're almost 4.5 pounds lighter.
