The other day i was driving on the highway and ran over a rock and it popped up and scratched the side of my 8. The scratch is about 1 1/2 long how can i take off the scratch?

 

Can you feel the scratch when you run your finger nail over it? if not it can be polished out with a good car polish. If your fingernail does get caught in the scratch then it's deeper than you thought, google "wet sanding" or simply get some touch up paint for a quick fix.

 

i think i just might touch it up or quixx fix it.

 

porter cable + sonus sfx-1 maybe? ie a good clear coat polish might be able to get rid of it. i get rid of a lot of those all the time with this system. but, of course, there are also some that don't come out. it's trial and error.

 

i bought quixx scuff removal off ebay i might buy touch up paint from mazda. thanks for the tips guys. do you know if dry ice removes dents?

 

There is something called paint compound you can actually buff into the scratch. If it's not deep, I don't advise going to this level, but I work at a dealership and it's how we remove scratches. A nice buff with compound takes out almost every scratch; deep or surface.
