I have no clue if my zaino is working really

Like seriously I started off the day knowing it was going to be somewhat cold, but I decided that today is the last day until sometime next week that I will have the time to wash the car, and do it. So i go up, washed the car with Liquid Dawn, Hell I don't even know if i did THAT right, Then I tried to use the claybar that came with it, But It didn't even seem to be doing anything to my car, I tried to scrub some white stuff on the hood of my car off with it, and yes I used the Watery Stuff. Then I Decided to use the The z7 car wash and hope that I had done the stuff before right.
Now I just mixed up some zfx and z2, and put it on, it looks like a pink/watery substance, and whether I knew If i had mixed it right or not (I was expecting it to be more I dunno, thick?) So now Im waiting a half hour and going to wipe the car down with a cotton towel, and then put some z5 on, and then maybe some z2 again, I will take pictures of my car and you guys can judge. Oh and when I put the z7 car wash on, it was drying up like almost as soon as I put it on, so I just dried it (with the bubbles) without spraying it down, is this normal??? or was I supposed to spray it down with a hose?

Lol if this paragraph isnt understandable I'll just say ...... I tried to use my complete zaino kit today, and I'm not sure if it worked =[

zaino is confusing at first with all the seemingly random names for the products.

Ducky: no offense but it doesn't sound like you did your homework and you messed it up in the process.

You washed with dawn soap, did you wash all the dawn off before you started with the clay?
when you clay bar, you're not supposed to scrub, just glide the clay across the paint and it will pick up particles. (make sure the suface is lubricated with soapy water)

on the back of the packet that your ZFX came in, it tells you how many drops of it to put in the Z2 or Z5. How many did you add??? (MAX of 10 drops per mixing container)

Did you add the Z2 / ZFX to the entire car or were you doing one section at a time?

ahh.. Please don't do any mechanical work to your car.

Re-read the instructions again. Sometimes you learn something.

Lol I definitely followed the directions, its just that the claybar was gliding across SO smooth that I thought there is no way this is picking up anything, and yeah I washed all the dawn off before i did the claybar. I guess I just couldn't see what the claybar was doing so I just stopped it because I assumed maybe I was missing a step or my car didn't need it. I filled up one of those small containers about half way (the plastic vials that come with the zfx) and put 6 drops of the little bottle into it.

Anyways I washed it with the z6 car wash, and I wasn't sure whether to wash the car off with the hose or to just use a cotton towel and whipe it up, It didn't say anything about spraying it off I just used the towel. Then to finish it off I threw some z2 on there, let it dry for a half hour, came back and then threw some Gloss Enhancer on it.

If the weather holds up tomorrow I'm gonna do a z5, z2, z2

you ALWAYS have to remove car wash soap. Zaino is no exception. You should have hosed the suds off, THEN towel dried.

Question: you said you let the Z2 sit for half an hour THEN put some gloss enhance on? (Z6?) Did you remove all the Z2 BEFORE spraying the gloss enhance on?

yeah I removed all the z2 off with a towel, It came out pretty decent looking but now that I know I'll do the z5, z2, z2 tomorrow if its not raining, now im not in california so this was in like 45 degree weather (the news said 50), its just that I won't be able to do this after tomorrow until friday again, and Ive had the zaino in my house since January.

The thing is, in the zfx the plastic vials, how many ounces do they hold, I assumed like 4 ounces, Either way if it rains tomorrow all of this will be moot =d

Ducky, a couple things...

Zaino is meant to be applied in temps upwards of 60 deg. F. You can do it in colder temps (I do this during the winter time) but be prepared to have the Zaino (even with ZFX) sit on your car for many hours before taking it out.. I kept mine on overnight. It doesn't work like traditional wax where you buff it off after it's hazed. In the summer however in direct sunlight, you can buff sections off after just a couple minutes.

Seemed like you were applying thick coats of Zaino.. that's not the way to go. Very thin is best (though kinda tricky)- if you can still see traces of Zaino on the paint, that's already thicker than optimal. Makes buffing out easier and also a more uniform shine.

You should apply Z6 (the detail spray) in between coats (just use a tiny bit with a damp towel) so that the successive coats are easier to apply and buff off and so you get rid of residual bits of the previous coat.. also adds some gloss.

Also, do you have a dark colored car? If not, you don't need to use Z5.. also the best way to stack Z5 and Z2 is to do all coats of Z5 FIRST (remember Z6 detail spray in between). That can be 3-4 coats to hide most swirls and fine scratches and to add some depth to dark colored paints. Then you can put layers of Z2 on it.

I applied Zaino on my car as soon as I got it so the paint was still in really good shape.. I think Zaino is meant for slightly to moderately oxidized paint.. if the paint feels really rough, you might want to consider a proper polish before Zaino OR use Zaino All In One (ZAIO) as the other Zaino stuff (besides ZPC) doesn't have any abrasives or paint cleaning power. I've got a Porter Cable so I'm a bit spoiled.

Keep at it and you'll be a Zaino believer.

Zaino works best in coats, 3-4 coats will leave your car in rediculous show car shape. But the change is so suttle that you will have a hard time noticing it. Best to get a friend or family member to look at it before you start, then look at it again after you finish.

I've gotten compliments about my wax job like "Woah, is that even a real color they make for the car?", "How did you get it to be a mirror finish like that?", "Is this a 10K paint job?"

Zaino = totally worth it! But takes a lot of effort.

If you try Meguiars NXT you will see a huge different... Not much effort involved and looks amazing. I have and will always use this on my baby...

I also get asked if my car has a custom paint job...

Used it for a while before Zaino, It looks good but doesn't last as long.

I thought of the NXT as a deeper look, like it made the clearcoat invisible. Whereas, the zaino actually makes the clearcoat more of a mirror finish.

I was NXT'ing every week for optimal shine.

With zaino you give three coats in spring and you're good all year!

Sounds like too much work... I'd rather have my NXT wet look shine wear off in a few weeks then just add another coat to my RX8. This way my baby looks new all the time...

And about your clearcoat comment...the wet look shine is much nicer...

Still don't know if the stuff is working, cause Im a psychology major and I THINK its working, but am I just fooling myself into it because I spent like $100 on everything and wanting it to work???? I don't know, I put another layer on just now, did a few things different (used about 1/2 less z2, and 5 drops of zfx) and I'm gonna leave it on the car for 3 hours and then wipe it off and gloss it before it gets dark =d
