austin off roading?
hey guys,
friend of mine has a self-built dune buggy (sp?). he just moved here recently, as did i guess. anyway, we don't know the extended austin area that well. is there a decent place to go off-roading? nothing extreme, and although it is street legal, we don't want to go on an hour drive just to get to the place ... anywhere off 360 or 620 maybe?

There are supposed to be some places around 360/bull creek area but I've never been there personally so I couldn't tell you exactly where. You might try calling 4wheel parts over on Anderson lane, those guys might be able to hook you up.

thanks canary! good idea to call them.
i live around the bull creek area, and i don't know where we could go! haha, i'm sure there's something tucked away somewhere.

called them - said best bet was more than an hour away, in llano and rockdale.
oh well, maybe one day we'll make it out there.
yes, so much more than 2222, altho that road is awesome. wish they'd chop down some of the cliff-side trees between mopac and 360 to open up that view...

Best offroading places in Texas are out west. You could also try Medina Lake, they have some nice graded dirt roads. You could also try south of San Antonio, just becareful you aren't mistaken as an illegal.
