Please help me out guys. I've read Polak's Rattle hunt great thread but doesn't mention how to fix my particular problem. Others have mentioned a " Coin change rattling" sound from Behind/beside the cigarette lighter but no one has posted a fix.
I'm hoping someone has figured this one out. Honestly, innocent people are going to get hurt if I can't rectify this problem soon. The ear to ear grin that usually proceeds a drive in the 8 has turned into a teeth grinding frown . Any suggestions?

 

Have you tryed removing the tray next to the sig lighter? or is it right behing the sig lighter?

 

Its not the coin tray, I tried. I also noticed that the sound diminishes a bit when my hands on the shifter. makes me think it's not the lighter but the sound is definatley coming from that area.

 

my new 8 had some rattles... but its very slight and liveable.

it comes from the gauge cluster hood. did you check that?
and there's a tsb iirc on rattle from the cowl vent area... don't have it, but if i do and its horrible, i can get that fixed myself.

i don't know how to help diagnose that problem for you lil buddy. i swapped my ashtray out for an RB gauge kit.

but if you're sure its under the shifter, check under that panel. look for some DIY concerning AF short shifter installs or the like. it should have the same removal process.
