Any problem with switching inside/outside brake pad?

Any problem with switching inside/outside brake pad?
I have always noticed that the outside brake pads always wear faster than the inside (right now I have Hawk HPS). Are there any issues with switching the pads around with the intent of prolonging the life of the pads?
