Exclamation Hit a Curb!

ok long story short i was turning in to a gas station fast off a road and hit a curb(i hit it pretty bad). well as visual goes i am fine(no scratches on the paint or dents) but a 8" scratch on the outside of the front and back wheel.

well i get back in and my light stays on that looks like a car with swiggly tire tracks behind it. well i soon find out as i drive down the road my steering wheel is offset to the left(hit curb on right side)

it just happened so i was wondering what the damage could be and what the cost was on what you thought the damage was.

It's about $60 from your dealership.

it might be more if your car is lowered and/or has a body kit, i couldnt get a place to do my civic because it sat low and was kitted, but if you find a place with an in floor alignment rack then youll be fine.

and if your not lowered or kitted or anything then your good!

just warning you man.

Just remember that if your steering column is not straight, it might interfere with your DSC... and that's a bit dangerous.

Depending on how hard you hit the curb, you could have bent a steering linkage or (god forbid) a strut.
I'd go see if someone in the sales forums is selling an OEM wheel for cheap; but the rest of it needs to be looked at by a mechanic.

Alignment at my dealer is $70 to $90, depending on what kind of sale they've got. When they have it up on the rack they can inspect it for damage. IMHO, take it to a dealer where they'll know what to do about the DSC.

If the damage to the wheels is just curb rash, there are some threads on how to fix that yourself. I did a ghetto job (OK viewed from 10-20 feet) with just touchup paint, but there are some threads showing how to do much better. For a pro repair, there are places that will fix things like new in the range of $100 to $150 per wheel.

take if to get an alignment.....if steering linkage/tie rods/ strut/shocks are bad they will c it before they can do the alignment becasue it will not let them accurately align it......

does an alighnment correct for my steering being turned to the left to go straight? Or does my steering being messed up mean that its more than just an alighnment problem.

that is what an alignment fixes. Hopefully it does or else you have bigger issues
