Hello All,

I just wanted to throw out the idea of a San Francisco Rx-8 meet. There is already a meet in Union City, Friday's at 7:00pm, but that's more of the Central meet for the WHOLE bay area. Then there's a Dublin meet for the guys that are more East of the Bay area. So, I was thinking of setting up a SF meet, since I just moved the city and would like to have a local meet.

This meet would not supersede the UC meet, but will be a change of pace.

I want this meet to only be once a month, either the first Friday or Thursday (to avoid the Friday crowds) of the month. If we do the SF meet, we can choose to have that as the "Bay Area" meet for the week and will continue to default to UC the weeks after or have both if you really have nothing to do.

Location:

Japan Town around 7:30-8:00p, in the parking garage, lower lever near the car wash area. It's a bit more empty on that side.

I am open to other locations as we go along, but I like Japan Town for the cheaper parking, the lesser crowds, and there is enough to do there to keep a meet happy.

I know there are more 8's on this side of the water and do not want to cross the bridge for a meet, so let me know what you guys think and we'll have a meet next month to start things off.

If not, this thread will die like many others... LOL

I was thinking the first Friday on March to start things off.

HAHA, don't pay for parking... you guys are funny... Well like I said, the first meet I just want in an easy location and we can go from there. The nice thing about that parking lot, on the side I want to be, it's mostly empty; so Matt, no door digs.

Another thing we can do is; my office has a pretty big parking lot, we can park there in a gate for FREE and walk about 10-15 min to downtown (Union Square) and find tons of places and things to do there.

 

Sounds great. Finally a San Francisco Meet. How about for starters, meet at the back parking lot of Stonestown Mall in front of that movie theater, where the old Goodguys/Tower Records used to be. Parking is free, its a mall parking lot and atleast if you wanted to do something, you/we can go into the mall and maybe eat. What do you guys think?

 

That might work, I didn't even think of the mall. The only problem is the foodage, there's chevy's and mall food, it's hard to have a gathering there.

We'll see how many people pop up in this thread and go from there. We still have some time before this happens.

We will meet at the parking lot no later the 12pm, if you are not there by then, I won't head back to open the gate. We will walk down to Market Street to ride the street car, have $1.50 ready for the fare, then down to Pier 39 for lunch. After that, take the street car again or rent a van cab, to catch the movie at 5:30p or 8:30p and then have dinner right at Mel's Diner accross the street or what ever tickles your fancy.

I was thinking that we should buy the Imax tickets early on fandango or something. I don't want to go there and be screwed. i'll search fandango and post up the link later tonight.

After Ever got me a little worried, he was right, no Iron Man IMAX, they have sone rollin stones thing on IMAX. It's only on 35mm, I'm still down to go.... :/

 

We already purchased the tickets, so yeah, we're goin... ya bastard

 

hahahaha, my plan is going in effect to get you to a meet!!! I'll bring your posters! I'll buy tickets anyway, just in case.

 

On a side note, The New Batman will be on IMAX 7/18/08, I'm not sure if it will play at the metreon yet, but we can do another SF meet for that.
