Time for new tires - suggestions?

Hi everyone! I am badly in need of new tires, and am struggling with which to get. I have 16" rims. My local Mazda dealer was suggesting Toyo Proxes TPTs, but honestly, I trust this community's opinion more than his. I'd appreciate suggestions you guys have on some tires that are a good value. I live in central California, and dont have to deal with snow or much rain. Thanks in advance!

A decent Ultra High Performance tire in the 300 treadwear range should suit your needs just fine.

Give the new Yokohama S.drive a try ($95).

I recently bought Goodyear Eagle F1 GS in a 245/40/18 and they are awesome. I bought them new off eBay and saved $200 below tirerack's price. I don't know if they come in size 16 but if they do then they get my highest recommendation. Abit pricey but they look aggressive as hell and feel like butter on the road.

Kumho SPT Escta if you are into performance with average wear.

Otherwise get any high milage tire that is all season.

So that his car rides like a rental car?

A 300 treadwear tire isn't going to be consumed too quickly.
Most UHP Summer tires offer plenty of performance in the rain- that should cover his climate needs (for the occasional rain where he's at). Why would he need all seasons for given his OP description?

Stiff sidewalls offer superior responsiveness, which, for a true sportscar, is the right direction to go.

I'm sure the RT-615 (a tire designed as a value oriented AutoX competition tire) is exactly what the OP is searching for.

There's a compromise as to how stiff you want a sidewall to be for your daily driver- there's only so much lateral transition that will be experienced on your way to work.

and just add to that, the FK452 IS the replacement for the ST115 in the Falken lineup

so if you can't find the ST115's cheap, try the FK452's
