Can't decide on a color to order...

So I've finally decided to put in my order for an RX-8 and I can't decide which color I want. The only 8 I've seen in person is a black one, only one dealership around me has an 8 in stock. Anyway, I'm stuck between the Red or Titanium. I've seen pictures of both obviously but without seeing them in person I'm having trouble making up my mind.

I'm leaning toward the Red but some of the pictures I've seen it looks very bright, almost orangish and other pictures it looks darker which I like. Can anyone clear this up for me, I'm also wondering if the Red is metallic at all or is it just a regular red color? I sure wish this wasn't such a rare car in Canada so I could get a good look at it and make a better decision.

I've seen more Red RX-8s then any other colour, with the possible exception of Silver.

The RX-8 Red has a heavy Mica in it. Mica is like Metallic, except it is gold, not silver.

The result of this, is, as you noted above, the car looks different colours at different perspectives and light conditions.

When the car is clean and in the sun, the red has a nice glow to it. But, under street lights, overcast days whatever, that will change a bit.

As for the Titanium, I LOVE the colour in person. My 2nd favourite after the Winning Blue. However I HATE the black and peanut butter interior we are forced to take in Canada, so that colour was never in consideration for me.
On that note however, I think the Black and Red interior on the Red RX-8 looks kinda cheesy. The red leather is kinda cheep and chintzy and I've seen almost-new cars with marks in the red leather.

You NEED to see the colors in person. You will not make a good decision otherwise.

I picked Velocity Red and couldn't be happier.

Seeing them in person makes a HUGE difference. The Titanitum which I originally wanted ended up being much lighter than I had thought it was.

The Red is gorgeous but will get you more attention. I didn't like the red or blue until seeing them in person, the blue is stunning as well!

The red has a VERY nice shine in the sun not orangy really pics don't do it justice at all. At dusk the red is almost creamy looking it gets down to a nice burgundy colour stunning!

The blue seems to do the same as dusk and is very nice.

If your getting a GT than you also have to decide on if you like red / black leather or tan/black as well. Personally I like the all black so in a GT it would be silver or blue (probably blue).

You NEED to see more in person.

I have the yellow one....

I was debating between the blue and yellow ....

I obviously picked the yellow....i haven't seen another one on the road yet besides mine. I've seen every other colour at least 3 times each. But whatever colour you pick .... they all look great!

I own a titanium. Quite frankly it's bit dull. If I had the choice to choose a colour now it would be a toss up btw the blue and red. They look more sportier than the dull grey. The metallic flakes in the red look incredible and give it an exclusive look. It definitley looks special in the red.

Titanium for sure.

I drove every which way to view the cars in person. The blue to me is too shiny and electric. The black is nice but very difficult to keep clean and when it is dirty the car to me shows nothing special in its lines. The red and yellow are too bright. You might get bored.

I have not seen the silver, but to me it is too light.

Disagree big time. I've just returned from my dealer where I saw red, silver and Titanium cars for the first time (previously only seen a blue) and whilst the red and silver were nice there was no contest with the Titanium grey. It's gorgeous and suits the car so well. No way is it dull with the metallic silver flecks and it sets off the badges and wheels perfectly. Lucky I chose it really...

In Europe grey seems to be the most popular colour. I just think at times it looks a little plain. Even if you look at Mazda's adveritsements red is the colour that is shown b/c it brings out the best in the design. That's all Lenny!

Before I saw any colours, I was planning on the silver or the blue. Saw the blue first, and was impressed but still thought silver was the one for me.

Finally saw the red at a dealer and was sold. I'm usually the last person to buy such a loud colour let alone the interior has red also but this car looks great and the interior is perfect. I even got the red handbrake.

You really need to see the cars in the flesh so to speak. It does make a big difference.

Of the colours I've seen it's silver that brings out the best in the design as it shows off the curves but Titanium seems to suit it more, it just looks right. It's totally subjective though: like music and art it depends on the viewer.

Yellow was actually my first choice! Since I never had the chance to see it in person I played safe. I've seen one around here and it looks brilliant. I think these are the types of colours that suit sports cars.

To me, the yellow and black 8s look very similar in person and in pics. The blue and red were much different than I thought they would be (I ended up buying a red).

I did see one Ti, but it was so far away from me that I couldn't really get a good look at it. I haven't seen any others yet in the flesh.

To the original poster: if you're really concerned about looks, seriously consider getting the back windows tinted. All the 8s I saw before my purchase looked great without tinting. But the first red 8 I saw with tint blew me away!

Also, I can't laud the front air-dam highly enough. I think it looks awesome.

Thanks for all the replies, I'm going to have to do some serious thinking before I decide. Maybe I'll get lucky and see one of each on the street.

LOL,

Hi Pete: I was the one who saw ya on Steeles...

I think that all of the colours look fantastic. I have the Titanium, and think that it is a fabulous colour, but I have to give a qualified agreement with TiRX8' s comments: under some low light conditions (overcast days, for example, as opposed to night time), the colour can look a little bit dull.

The only other colour I have seen enough to give a qualified opinion on is the blue, which seems to look great under ALL light conditions. At its best, the Blue does not look as good as the Titanium does at its best; but at its "worst", Blue definitely outshines the Titanium at its "worst". This is probably because the Blue still looks quite 'bright' even in low light (overcast) conditions.

Any time I have seen the Red I have been VERY impressed.

Honestly, I think that one has to consider the interior colour (like Redshift notes) in your choice also. Heck, it might be the only way you will be able to decide...
