So i have the common brake squeal that everyone is getting. i just wanted to know what could be the cause like brake fluid or temperature? It's quite annoying and seems to get worse. I've tried just diving and slamming the brakes but that doesnt work too well, now the front rims are black and my rear rims are clean ha.

I was wondering if that ant-brake squeal liquid u can buy from autozone helps? if not what are some good aftermarket brake pads other than hawk? Im not really looking for any ceramics and i definately dont want less stopping power either (which i hear the hawk ceramics do). Right now im looking at duralast ceramic brakes from autozone which seem ok.

also some trustful websites which sell brake pads would help a lot too.

Sounds like you said you are using HP pads. That's the problem.

You are right, ceramics, carbon kevlar etc is the solution.

Stopping power less. I don't think so. Any distance lost is negliable, and debatable.

Reaction time and defensive driving is what will keep you from an accident.

Not 1 or two feet on the street based upon brake statistics.

 

i dont have hawks yet, i have the oem brakes.

 

I didn't have any real brake squeal problems with my oem pads. However, I got Hawk HPS and now there's a noticeable amount of squeal. I tried using CRC Brake quiet gel, but it only worked for a week, then it was back to the same level of noise. Time for ceramics!

 

Just turn up the radio,, that's what I do.

 

Why not just get the OEM pads? They work great if you don't track your car, no reason to get Hawk or others.

Clean your brake pad shims (if you have them) with Brakleen (by CRC). Then spray on the Disc Brake Quiet (also by CRC), which comes in a squeeze bottle and a spray, but I would get the spray. Both are red in color. Buy at Walmart because it will be a little cheaper than Autozone.

Then bed the brake pads in properly. Do a search on google and you will find many sites with bedding-in procedures. There's many variations but the general process is to brake hard (just avoiding ABS intervention) from 60 to 10 mph, 10 times total, no rest in between. Then cruise on the fwy to cool off or if you have to go home and park, do so with the parking brake off (and leaving shifter in 1st gear). If you feel you need to, do the whole process a 2nd time several hours later or the next day.

I am on my 3rd pads on the fronts and 2nd pads on the rears, and I have never resurfaced my rotors. Everything is still awesome with no brake squeal.

 

To get the lowest noise level and still retain stopping power i would recommend the Hawk ceramics. They are currently priced at 75.00 for the rear set and 81.00 for the front set.

 

Does the squeal come on with brakes applied or not? Your pads may just be low. I switched mine to hawks ceramic and they work great. No squeals and the stopping power is about the same. Biggest advantage though, very little brake dust.
