All Season Floor Mats

Does anyone have the all season floor mats? I was wanting them, but I can't find any pictures or any other information.

My dealer had a pair of them, so I got to take a look. They are rubber, dark grey, (if I remember correctly) with a bunch of little rotor emblems (1" or so) molded into them.

Sorry I'm sketchy on the details. I decided not to buy them, because they don't have very deep edges, and wouldn't offer much help in keeping the salty water from winter here from soaking into the carpeting at their edges.

I have them, but I'm not using the one for the driver's position, at least not yet.

They're a good 3/8" or so thick, with an interesting pattern molded into them, and I think both of the front ones say "RX-8" on them. They seem like they'll last forever, and they're cut to fit the individual spots..... theoretically.

The difficulty I've run into is this: the driver's side mat is longer than the OE carpet mat, and because the rubber is rather stiff, the front end of the mat does not conform to the floor as it curves up behind the pedals. Instead, it tries to straighten out, and so it comes up slightly - not much - from the floor at that point. The annoyance is that this means the mat reaches about 1/2" farther forward.... which in my case happens to put it in just the spot so the clutch catches slightly on it when I'm removing my foot from it. No real danger, as the clutch is engaging completely, but very annoying to have a "ka-thwap" every time I take my foot off the clutch.

For the time being, I've put the carpet one back, and I'm leaving the all-weather driver's side mat in my garage ... bent. If the mat "breaks in" in the next few days and the bend remains, I'll try it again. Even if this does work, it will leave only about a 1/4" clearance from the clutch pedal. Either way, I'll talk to my dealer about it next time I'm up there (I'm in New Mexico, and "up there" is 80 miles away).

Sure - I'll post a couple pictures of the driver's side one, probably tomorrow afternoon.

How about bullet proof glass and armour plating for the doors too?
