So what have you heard is coming? Motor Trend claims a larger displacement engine is coming for the RX8. A local Mazda salesman told me that a twin turbo Mazdaspeed RX8 will be the last release before the RX8 line is discontinued.

And you actually believe what Dealership saids ? Dealership is always the *last source* for information .... yeah I heard that Mazda going to put a Quad Turbo to Rx111 in the Year 2088.

Mazda is tight lipped about their future plans. And very little gets leaked out. Anything you hear or the pictures you see, at this time, is pure speculation. Look to an announcement from someone here like Zoom44 or go to RotaryNews.com for information. They filter out all the junk news items.

Actually, I did search and could not find any recent discussion. It seems that information is leaking in recent months, thus the question intended to probe for new information.

The January 2008 Motor Trend claims the "RX-8 should soon get Mazda's new 16X Wankel rotary" which is 1600cc (800cc x 2).

The larger capacity rotary was in the Mazda booth at the November 2007 Tokyo show.

As for the twin turbo, I agree the last source of good info is a showroom salesman. However, I challenged him on that point and he claimed he was certain. Thus, I threw it out to the club to see if anyone had any new collaborating information. I may have been optimistic in the type of response I'd get from the club.

For those interested in learning more, below are a couple of links.

i actually believe mazda will never bring back a boosted rotary engine.... unless nissan decides to boost the 350z, i dont see mazda boosting the rotary unfortunatly....reliability comes into affect on this decision as well
