Unhappy 158 whp wtf!!!!!!!!

yeah so i just bought a 6mt... felt nice... but i wanted to dyno it to make sure it was running up to stock spec... i was hoping that since it passed its "100" point inspection that everything would be good... NOT!!!!!!!!

well what do we make stock... 175 to 180 whp !!!! hell even 170 i think is on the low end ok.....

but damn man... after the last dip in the graph it drops instead of going up..

brought it into the dealer.. friggin coils.....

158 whp 128 wtq not cool at all... rough idle.. stick shift vibrates..

and the car is an 2004 but it only has 21567 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyways.. you think only coils will bring the power down this much...

i have the dyno graph... but i need to learn how to post it on this forum

catch ya later guys

damn thats low. coils are very important to the engine though.

try uploading the graph to photobucket or imageshack and just post the image code on here

yeah, i just bought it from the dealer, all the recalls done, they tell me im gonna get 4 new coils, but there not gonna replace the plugs unless it needs it.... also there going to check my liqued filled mounts to see if they contribute to the vibation...

i have all the stickers in the door jam for the recalls and i did get it from oak tree mazda.. so far they have been good...

so now comes the white te-37.. 17x7.5 with 245/45/17 .... the rim is rated small.. it actually physically measures almost 8 wide...
gettin some tien springs.. some light window tint.... the factory aerokit installed... even the front mud flaps...

then ill be good for a while... anyways yeah, ill try and upload the graph today sometime... no afr though.. dyno for free.. my friends shop...... lucky me... hahaa

Call Mazada support, give them VIN and ask what stuff has been done on which date. You might have an older flash of the ECU.
Also spark-plugs get more **** than coils, change them. Don't forget to reset your ECU. Also check the ground wire connection. If there isn't enough surface contact to flow hi-amp there won't be enough power to the coils nor plugs. Trust me, that happened to my Nissan and it wasn't fuuny to chase that for 6 months.

^^ +1

If it's a mustang dyno and we factor in 10% then that gets you to about 174whp on a dynojet... just approximates...

They sold it knowing all this and probably thought they'd get someone who didn't know anything about cars to buy it. I bet you got a good deal on it too.

i did get a good deal

16k and added a 7 year 100k with 0 deductible... totaaly worth the 2k for this kinda warrenty on a rotary...hahahaha

leather sunroof.. no kit and navi.. navi would be nice but oh well, but the kit is on its way

i only know its at my friend shop called DNR racing.. hes at the old skunkworks place in hayward..

he uses it for the front whhel drive hondas if that counts

and the graph ... the power drops... alot after the 3rd dip in the dyno characteristics of the rx8 motor..

the it tries to go up but stays almost flat 158 whp at 8700 rpm

it looks hella jagged above 7k, but below it looks smooth...kinda normal... just low power..

but yeah,, 16k for a car with 21.5 k miles... awsome!!!!!!!!!

Get the coils and plugs (if needed) replaced and then go pay $50 at a reputable performance shop w/ dynojet and then come back and let us know.

This way if the readings STILL come out that low then you know its the car and not the dyno/dyno facility. Also be sure to pull the DSC fuse prior to the pulls.

You neeed to pull the fuse when you Dyno.

the car went in limp mode.

Need to dyno correctly.

I got 163 around 6.5K. Pulled the fuse and 198.7 RWHP at 9 kRPM. Ran 5 more runs and it dropped to 198.5. Very consistent.

nothing pushed.

you aren't drag racing the car. You don't need to launch it or do anything weird. Just get into 3rd or 5th, then floor it.

you dont need to pull ur fuse to do any dyno

if I were you, I will try to replace the plugs right now, since you're @ 21K miles. and u got a 04, with such low miles, the previous owner probably baby the **** outa the car.

You got 4 new coils already right? replace the plugs and plug wire, they're cheap, plugs you can get a whole set for around 50 bux shipped (Ebay my friend), get some good plug wires like magnore (Spelling) or RB wires.

put some premix in and premium fuel, pull the car out, run the **** out of it on some highway. make sure no cops are around. replace the coolant, go dyno again. see what happens

Im planning to pull my car to Dynojet next week, maybe thursday or friday. I will post mine up
