Hi all!

I'm trying to get a RX-8. i currently driving a 06 wrx. i want a RWD car and im looking at s2000 and rx-8. and i think i like rx-8 better. i love that 9k rev, and 2 more seats in the back.

i will mod my rx-8 but i will stay N/A. i will try to go to some local meets and get to know more about the car. thank you

Good luck on the purchase, I just got mine about a week ago. Just fyi, don't expect to gain much hp with either car if you plan to mod NA. They're both pretty strung out from the factory and don't respond well to bolt-ons. If you want to make any power you'll want to go FI or nitrous.

It's not really a power car, it's a handling car. It responds better to suspension mods. If you do pick one up, we have meets in Union City every Friday night.

Welcome to the club. If you pick up one by next weekend, we are trying to get a last drive in before the new years. Looks like we are meeting in Gilroy to make a run. Check out the thread for more info.

For starters, the oil and water temp gauges on the car seem stationery, which basically means that they won't give you different readings in extreme temps. weather hot or cold. The needle will always stay in the middle.
Rotaries run very hot, so anything you can do to aid cooling is a welcome step in the right direction.
check your oil and tire pressure every week at least, add accordingly.
If you're experiencing weak starts, find out if the starter and/or battery have been replace with some with more cranking amps.
Make sure your taillights have been replaced or fixed. They've been known to flood.
Don't expect much from bolt on mods, instead go to town on the suspension (i.e coilovers, sway bars, lighter wheels etc.) maybe a heavy duty clutch, a flywheel and a short shifter.

what do you mean by flood?

how often do you guys change oil?

and what RPM do you shift at? when i drive my wrx i have 250 WTQ that make me shift around 2 and some times at 3, when i test drove the rx8 seems like around 4 or 5.

how would you know if the oil temp is going high? if my engine is overheating will the car tell me?

TIA
