couple questions on a couple of 8s

i'm looking at 2 rx8s, one red and one silver, both MT 05.

on the red, i had odd trouble getting it in reverse. little weird but it went after that no problem. also the shif **** is scratched. is there a stock replacement i can get? there is no sunroof and i think its touring but for the price i can get past that.

on the silver it also has the same scratches on the shift ****. it has some grey residue on the inside of the headlights. the dealer said they would fix that but is it anything to worry about? i ddint get to test drive that one yet but i will in a couple days. btw its a GT.

is there anything else i should ask about? or look for?

Shift **** wear is extremely common. New and aftermarket (voodoo) ***** are available through many of the forum sponsors.

Make sure you Rev and drive the crap out of the car, just to make sure that the car is good. and have them MAKE SURe all recalls and at least some TSBs has been done.

Oh, do it after its warm up.

i drove the silver GT and i think that's it. not my first choice of color but the deal will suck me in. in fact i have come to enjoy the color. i checked for recalls and there are none to be done. my mom keeps telling me there is something wrong with the brakes but i disagree. they make a low humming sound. i think its just outside noise of the car slowing.

otherwise i think we will seal the deal within a couple days.

I'm not sure about earlier models but on the 2007's, Only the sport model comes without a sunroof. Both the touring and grand touring have sunroofs.

The sport model came without a sunroof, the touring versions did have the sunroofs.

doesnt matter. im looking at the silver GT.

i hear a thud when it is put into gear and does that for every gear through about 4th.

also, i had the parking brake engaged, when i sat in the car it started to roll backwards. not good.

is there anyway i can convince my dad that redlining is OK in this car?

I have the same problem. He keeps telling me that i am stupid and i don't know anything about cars. My dad thinks the lower the rpms the longer the engine will last.

That's the way to think non-rotary!

lol

he come from non-rotary roots. he has had his fair share of fast cars but none of the you could redline.
