Suitable for a MN winter?

Hello, new to the forum and considering a RX-8 or a Miata. This would be as a second, summer, car, or possibly as a year round driver. Anyone drive one of these cars year round in the upper midwest? Thought, opinions?

Thanks in advance.

I've owned both...in Minnesota. You should have no problem in the winter IF you get a good set of snow tires, otherwise both cars are a handfull. With snow tires the winter driving can be a lot of fun....

Mmmm...winter fun...

Entering my first winter with my RX-8 and I am definately getting snow tires. I have had snow tires for both my RX-7s and never even came close to getting stuck, ever. Also--I second the fact that it can be the most fun you have had in a long time...

The car drives pretty good in the winter, but like the others have said get snow tires for sure.

Thanks, guys. It's helps to know that the car is good to go with snow tires.

I would still keep it as a summer car and use the Buick.

snow tires are your friend. Not that I have any 1st hand experience here in California BUT I've seen enough pictures of crashed RX-8's due to driving in the snow without good tires.
