The rear doors are already made from aluminum. You'd be better off getting light weight rims, and trim weight off the brake system than these.

yeah. it would be.

but your gains from something like that would be less than removing weight that's spinning.

so tires/rims/brakes/flywheel, then stuff like seats, trunk, hood, etc.

If your thinking of getting these doors you might have to go with more CF like
hood.
I checked that site you posted and I liked that hood with vents on the sides..

it's aluminum...even the hood,
that's the reason not that many go with CF...the oem parts have no weight.

well the reason is i want to road race and every ounce counts. my 87 gxl is my dd and i want to get a really nice car for the track. i have tested the mazdaspeed rx8 (i.e. bodykit, coilover suspension, flywheel..ect..) and i was blown away with the corning speeds it had!! i think with a few tweeks, rollcage...ect., it will be a monster on the track! i mean hell i live 20 miles from watkins glen raceway!!!

nope, 1 lb MORE than OEM. it was VIS, I remember it cuz i laughed when we weighed it. haha

although i bet some like the carbon creation ones are 1 lb lighter because they're so cheap and the edges aren't rolled with more resin

doors

I also am into losing as much weight as possible from the vehicle, from what I have found, the front doors will give u the most weight savings if u get them in carbon fiber.......when I was looking at em I believe they saved about 80lbs per front door, the problem is that I couldnt find out if the safety bar that slides in place when the door closes was still used.........the rears saved about 10lbs per door thats quite a bit of weight when u add it up http://www.businessvision.net/edge/M...y&PageNumber=1

this is where I found em

a cf trunk is where it'll make a difference...it weighs only 7 lbs. As far as fitment goes, c wings fit like ****, i would never buy anything from them. Seibon and vis fit pretty well but a slight edge to seibon.

haha not from what I've heard, it's from what i've seen throughout the years.

if your doing it entirely for weight savings then go for it, most body parts on full race cars have poor fitment and are al banged up from the races. If you care about quality and fitment, more than likely it will not fit right.

well, I would defenately like the weight savings, however its not a full race vehicles so fitment is a concern, as well as the safety of the doors

if i am not wrong, my varis cf hood is slightly lighter, when i hold it up, just the feel, i never measure the weight. cf trunk is definitely a bigger different.

if you're thinking about getting a cf trunk, you might wanna look into this: Mastergrade RX8 cf trunk

...it's unlike the typical handlaid cf over fiberglass trunks out there, this is vacuum bagged and you have the option of having double sided cf like mine.
