Sold my 94 FD and picked up this

Just incase a few of you guys didn't know, after selling my 94 RX7 baby last week to Kane on the forums here, I was in the market for GTO's. Originally I wanted a 05 black/black M6 however I got a PM by Dave on the GTO forums saying he had an 05 Silver/Black M6 11,000 miles for sale. I asked him to send me some pictures and once I saw the pictures, I was practically sold on the car. The next day, drove 1.5 hours away, saw the car in person, test drove it, and at the end of the day, I was driving my new GTO home :-)

This car is exactly what I was looking for, although not the color scheme I originally wanted, it was a CLEAN, well taken care of car and that's all that mattered to me. Dave was a great person to deal with and he knows his stuff. The car has NEVER seen the rain and was mainly kept garaged the whole time he had it. The car is so well taken care of that it STILL has the new car smell after two years of owning it!

Anyways, not even a day old in my hands, I took all day washing and detailing the car. I snapped a few pictures of the car for you guys to check out. I have mods planned for the future, but I will have the car paid off before doing any other mods

Performance: K&N Aircharger, Stainless Works 3" Catback, Ported TB by "Cory", Advanced Dyno Tune - 360hp/360lbs

Appearance: Drag Bags, AZA Z1's 19x8.5 Toyo T1R 245/35x19, 19x9.5 Toyo T1R 275/30x19,

GTO is a 2005 with LS2

Handling, hah, I definitely didn't buy this car for handle. Just the power and comfortable ride is well enough and what I was looking for.

I'm sure I'll be doing some suspension setup once I do some mods, but 360/360 to the wheels for just an intake and ported TB is pretty nice to have at your foot :-) The LS2 engine wakes up with a cam/headers, so its either those or the APS TT kit which people are making around 650-700 to the wheels just bolting on and getting better gas mileage than they were NA hah.

Here is a good example of what happens when you add a cam into the LS2

Hey nice ride! It's amazing how much different the new GTO looks with wider aftermarket rims. They are violently quick too. My little brother has an '05 with exhaust and, with essentially the same mods as the Evo you listed above, he can give my '05 VIII a run for its money at freeway speeds on my 91 octane tune. I keep telling him to upgrade the rims/tires too but he said there are clearance issues and he doesn't want to roll the fenders. I'll send him a pic of your car in order to prove that's not the case!

Congratulations!!! Hope you're enjoying the GTO...

Great looking quick silver. The Z1's are nice.

Just to clarify, nobody is making 650-700 whp with just the APS TT.
530 to 590 with just the kit. Add meth, a blower cam and heads and you can get up in those higher numbers. My buddy has the APS TT, and we talk about it all the time. I get to drive it on the tuning runs while he logs on HP Tuners.

Neat video for the comparison... that GTO w/ the cam should put the hurt on the Evo from a 3rd gear roll... the Evo was being gracious (or dumb) by trying on the GTO where it's strongest.

If he's putting down 418rwhp, it's definitely not a small cam, but it's also not the biggest "streetable" cam out there. You can get into the 430-440 with something a bit bigger - and thats with the stock heads with new springs and pushrods. You already have the headers, so a large part of the investment is taken care of.

That looks super nice. If I didn't have to deal with horrible winters, I'd likely own one. Those cars are sickly fast. The reality is, if you mod it fully N/A, there won't be much on the roads that can touch you, especially from a roll. If you FI it like I know of one guy that did, GOOD LORD, it's just insane. Gotta love the GTO for it's brute power, and ability to take out most modded cars. It takes a nicely modded EVO just to beat one from a roll, even when you are stock. There is truly no replacement for displacement in straight line power if you are willing to shell out the $$$$.

Sadly I do not have headers done :-(

That is going to be the next thing done along with MAYBE switching out to LM1 exhaust.

Oops, just saw "Stainless Works" in your mod list, and immediately thought "headers". SW catbacks do sound good!! Why don't you like it? I don't care for the Loud Mouths.

I don't know, the SW are too quiet for me hah. They aren't even noticeable until getting on WOT. I want to have a nice tone at idle and lower RPMs but we will see. I think I am going to pickup the LT headers first and see how they sound with the LT's, but I like the tone/sound of the LM's, seem a lot deeper tone.

Yea, the FD was an amazing car and I wish I didn't sell it, but I had to for this time in my life. Once I am out of college I will be buying another FD. I needed a car that could seat more than just two and let me able to lug some things around. The GTO is perfect for that and I do not sacrifice any type of performance (straight line that is) I'm pretty sure my GTO right now would pull on my FD by a little. 360hp/360lbs to the wheels with just exhaust and CAI. Once I get headers/cam, it's game over hah.

Spray it! LS2's love the dope! It'll gobble up a 100 dry shot or 150 wet shot with no other mods. 150 shot would put you easily over 500hp.

Just one more example of why we need a GTO subforum here.

Congrats HH! You're gonna love it.

nice looking car, but any LS engine wakes up with any type of air flow mod, exhaust, intake, header would net you about 25 whp..me perosanlly would take the FD, but, You already owned one and wanted something different, i have yet to own one, so i cant say, congrats on the car
