What to look for when buying a used RX8???

I'm new to this forum & don't no anything about RX8's. My g/f is getting ready to purchase a 2004 RX8 from a Carmax dealership. What are some of things that I should look for when I go and check it out???

Look to see if the recall tests have been performed, the 04s have had the most problems of course since they were the first year. I've never bought from Carmax but I hear they are pretty good about that stuff. Other than that, just ask if there have been any know issues with the engine or any other part of the car.

How can I find out if the recall test have been performed? Would a carfax report tell me?

Carfax should tell that stuff. But to be sure you can give the VIN to a Mazda dealer and they can look it up.

Also check for bodywork and signs of accidents. Some folks do their own bodywork so no Internet record of it will exist but there will always be overspray on the underside or in wheel wells. Low mileage is always a good thing, too. Get a compression check if you can.
