Squeeky Breakes

so my breaks are REALLY loud when i slow down or stop. with just a high pitch squeeky noise. i took it to the Mazda dealer and they keep trying to tell me that its normal on RX8s. Does anyone else get that on their car?

It is common with RX8 brakes. The reason for that is RX8 OEM brakes have some metal composite in them and thats what makes that noise. I usually just spray cold water on them whenever it gets really loud and annoying. haha...it seems to make it go away for a while. But also.....if your car is more than 2 to 3 years old and the brakes have never been replaced, it might be that your brakes are wearing out. Have them checked next time you take the car in for an oil change.

You know befor I got the Hawk SP+ pads I had the MS pads in the front. Man them pads never squeeked even when there was nothing left of them!
I'm just going to go back to MS after these are dead.

I can't spell half the time, but it is a good skill to have. Most people feel it is a sign of an educated person.

BTW. My brakes are noisy some times, but I dont mind as long as they keep on stopping on a dime. If your girlfriend doesn't like it, go from 60 to 0, in about 120 feet and see if she complains about the noise. If the noise still bothers you, get the Mazdaspeed exhaust..

You'll be graded your entire life on your english and spelling ability. Get used to it. Better us than your future boss deciding you shouldn't get the promotion because you can't spell in your email communications.

Yes it's normal that the brakes squeak. There are two things you can try.

1)get some anti-squeal paste and put it on the back of your brake pads. Your dealer should be able to do this. It's supposed to help with the squealing due to pad vibration against the caliper.

2)As suggested above switch to a different brake pad composition that is supposed to be quieter. I would looking in the tech garage instead of the picture gallery section where you posted this thread.

Don't take it too rough, we like to keep our forum organized and not have a bunch of redundant threads hanging around so we tend to hassle new folks a bit that don't read the rules and search before posting new threads.

Hope this helps and welcome.

it is swoope.. small s...

and i am not big on getting spelling correct or grammar for that matter.

but i do know spelling counts when doing a search..

if you search brakes and bedding. you might have some luck.. 75k miles of no brake noise, but what do i know..

as for me being a doushe, i have my moments. this thread was not one of them....

honestly swoope was being nice.. he didnt point out the fact that you didnt post in the right section. His answer was sufficient and if you read and followed what he said then you should find your answer.
