Warranty on the paint on top of car?

The plastic strips that surround the top of my 04 RX8 are almost completely faded to white (originally winning blue).

Anyone have any problems with this? If so, did it get covered under warranty?

If you're within 50K miles and your bumper to bumper warranty then yes it is covered under warranty. If not it will not be.

My Velocity Red has this same problem.

Shaun, you are saying that this is a warranty repair?

Umm.... I've only read of one incident on this forumn and that was in the last month.

Lack of waxing the car?

It's not common at all to have this problem.

I have owned the car only since February and have waxed it 4 times so I can't see how that would be a problem. It was SLIGHTLY faded when I got it, but it is REALLY bad now.

I have to take it in for another warranty issue (driver's side visor broke) so I'll have them take care of it.

It has 38k miles so well within warranty.

Come to think of it, seems like it is having reduced power... they better check that engine

I would read up on the details to make sure but if you're within your bumper to bumper warranty I would think defective or faded paint would be covered. You're not going to get them to fill in rock chips for you but they should re-paint it if it's faded or visibly peeling.
