there was a recall on 2004 model year arms for this problem, otherwise I'm not familiar with this being a problem for even racers using high grip racing tires

Interesting... just heard from a friend in Hawaii that witnessed this happening to a B Stock car on R compounds.

well the national level drivers here in the states having been pushing their cars hard for multiple years, statistically there will lways be an odd failures of various companents, in my case transmissions though few others have had the same issue ...

arms

the car is a rally car the cotrol arms take a huge amount of pounding--we compete in the rally-america prorally series-so, in 2 day race we do about 150 mile of off road stage miles--failure will happen again--that is for sure

you don't have to tell me about the trans-i replaced the stock 6sp-(it did not last long after i installed a pettit supercharger) with a 5sp G-force T5 dog box--I did some fab work on that job-it works so much better-fast shifts

for strength i have already welded plates on the cradle where the lower arm mounts, to do away with the camber/caster adjusting slots--then replaced the upper arm with a double swaged tube arm-this upper gives me a very large range of both camber/caster adjustments

looks like some more fab work ahead-went to the local racing shop picked up some rod ends, stud for the balljiont and bushing ends---friday, 4130 chromoly tube should be in

thanks

Though you can't see the car, this video claims to be of an RX-8 on a rally, sounds like one.

it's the same car-but better-now i'm looking after the car and i have added a supercharger, G-force 5sp T5 dogbox and hotbits suspenion-with the added speed more issues with the suspenion have come up---lower arms for one

on the video the camera is mounted in the bumper--so you can't see the car

we took 2nd at 100 acre woods in our class

Rally, I know you would rather be driving than posting here but it might be helpful to other 8 owners if you made separate threads about how you did your tranny swap, Supercharger & suspension mods.
