i know when the a/c is on it makes the car a little slower if u know what i mean, but when the a/c is off and i switch it so that air comes in from outside instead of cycling the air from inside the cabin, air blows out as if it were on. would this have the same effect as if i had the a/c on?? or is it just simply air coming from outside??? lol dont burn me!!!! im a newb!!!

 

As long as the AC is switched off you can use either outside or recir modes with no extra power loss.

Basic aerodynamics.
When the car is moving, air flowing over the hood has to change direction at the cowl to go up the windshield.
This creates a high pressure area that car makers use as the cabin air inlet.
So you get some positive pressure air in the cabin with the fan off.
They also usually include an outlet vent in some low pressure area to help it along.

Here’s another point.
Airflow coming off the windshield at the A-pillar forms a low pressure area at the front edge of the side glass.
Up until the 70’s cars used to have a vent window there to exhaust cabin air (& cigarette smoke).

yea, with air from outside your not killing your mileage as bad. but it wont be as cold as AC.

 

Not so simple, Grasshopper.....

The a/c will try to de-humidify the incoming air whenever the control is set to send air to the windshield or feet.

The compressor will run and you are not saving any power (and the a/c light WILL NOT COME ON.)

....it is all in your manual.

The only setting that doesn't run the a/c is the "vent arrow".

Don't worry about losing peak power by having the a/c on, the computer switches it off at 75% throttle opening.
