The CF hood looks absolutely beautiful against the VR. Is there any weight savings vs. the stock hood or did you strictly go for looks.

Also, how was it reinforced structurally? Usually they utilize metal components from the stock hood and just have a CF overlay.

Either way, it looks awesome. Good buy.

thnx... to tell you the truth, they both feel like they weigh the same, i really am just going for looks, i want to get black wheels or powder coat the stock ones... still undecided... there are black rotas that i want to buy... but one step at a time... i have an aem cold air intake on the way as well so ill be sure to post some vids/sound files of it!!! i also am planning on lowering and exhaust but the exhaust that i want is and hks high power i think its called but its meant for turbo i assume.... does any one know if that would be a good idea or no?

Why? No one buys a CF hood for the RX-8 for weight savings, it purely for looks. It's only around 1lb lighter than stock.

I hate to say it, but I'm not a fan. I would only get it if it had major weight reduction. But, as long as you enjoy it.

I agree with baseballgenius, CF is not a visual improvement. Never is. If you're not saving a significant amount of weight, it's just a different part with a funky look. Meh.

And here I've been making a living at composites for over 20 years!

sure its a visual improvement, depends on how you look at it. People have different tastes, you may not like it but a lot of people do. The hood is for aesthetic purposes only, but my cf trunk weighs only 7 lbs, i call that a nice weight savings.
