So, are the oil pans going to be replace ??

Called my dealer monday to ask them and got the traditional... Oil Pan, humm whats an oil pan... hey bob heard anything about an oil pan ... hummmm, you meen there's oil in there ( Well you get the picture ) so they said they would look it up.. still no news. so Called MC and got the usual, Humm oil pan.... hey Mary heard anything about the oil pan.. hummmm u mean to tell me theres oil in there, hummm, .. Well the lady told me to get some prove off the net and bring it to the dealer ( whatever )....

I had mine replaced last week. If the service guys at your dealership would call the tech guys at Mazda Canada they should get the info they need.
Or you could call Target Mazda in New Glasgow (902-752-0442) and talk to their service guys. They should be able to tell you what they had to do to get the info for mine.
And thanks for posting this. It reminded me I need to go check my oil...

 

Will it be a recall for ALL oil pans or just if the damn light is on every 5 miles?

 

I called my dealership and got the same response.

I provided the part number I got on this forum (as well as the Mazda Tech phone number, but I hope they already had that) and they confirmed the replacement part is availble. Getting it installed next week.

 

Finally my service guy called me , ( after i went to see him yesterday ) he just ordered my pan so they should be replacing soon. He did say that all his mechanics are going on a small course on the RX8 on the 30-31 october, cause they know nothing about the car ... now thats not an incouraging thought, maybe I should wait after that to get the pan changed...
