500/1 wiring question...

Hi guys,

I have done a stack of reading on here and all over the place and just want to make I am doing this right before I do something stupid that can be avoided! some advice from the audiophiles would be much appreciated!

I finally have all my stuff and have spent the last two weekends dynamatting and laying the cabling. I am finally at the final stages

I have a 500/1 which will power a W6v2...my question is this...

The amp has high level inputs but only RCA inputs. So, my thought was to tap the rear (left or right) speaker, after the amp, and solder on RCA plugs to then connect to the amp.

Is this ok? can I use 16GA speaker wire from the tapped rear to the amp?

Thanks in advance guys!! much appreciated.

Also, I must say with out the DIY's on here this would have been crazy...thanks to all that went through the pain and contributed!!

Maz

I assume by saying "after the amp" that you have the bose system. If this is the case, tap the front left & right signal before the amp for the best results. With the JL amp, you should be fine w/out a line driver.

By tapping before the amp you will have an un-equalized signal to work with. By using the front channel you will be able to fade out rear channel as needed for good staging & still have a full signal to the sub amp.

Apologies for that, you are correct I have the bose system. A tad bit of crucial info I cleverly decided to omit

Good tip with tapping the fronts!! that is certianly something I would not have thought about.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
